  • BU 3-point shooting so far...

Though BU's overall 3 point shooting% is only 34%, there's some indication that BU's perimeter game may be healthier this year than last (which we expected with AW's return). For example: Chris Roberts is shooting 40%, SM is at 37% and DSE at 50%. I understand we don't have many data points, and that our shooting % may go down slightly with Valley play...but things are looking ever so slightly better on the perimeter shooting front. This is huge for a team that lacks a real beast in the middle.

( I really hope WE becomes that beast!)

Unless you spread the court and have shooters like JC Ruffin etc, then a respectable inside game is manditory for shooting success.

Interior passing is just as important as passing to the post. Ball movement and making teams respect/double your post can lead to much better shooting %'s.

Andrew Warren and his confidence though is more important the anything else with this team and its shooting. When he is feeling it and is confident it will be contagious. Him hot, Brown and his mid range inside game and Roberts makes this team extremely difficult to defend.

I would say getting AW back and the additions of DSE and MK should be plenty to offset losing Dunson, our best shooter from last season.

Also, our percentage would be a little better if TB wouldn't shoot from behind the arc at all. I would much rather see him take that mid-range jumper that he seems to make with ease or just take the ball to the basket. He's shooting 59% from inside the arc and just 11% from beyond the 3-point line.
???People say, ???Forget last year', but I want our guys to remember that one, because that will not happen again. We will be much better.??? Geno Ford, 9/22/12

Ding ding...coach should mention something to TB that his job when outside the perimeter is to either pass or drive by a guy and then stop suddenly for a pull up jumper...no more 3's for TB. His freshmen year I thought his 3pt shots would come around, but I don't think he should take anymore 3's because he's too good from 15' out.

Ya I thought that TB was just trying to do too much with those 3's at big moments in the Illini game, and it almost cost us. Don't get me wrong I think he might be our best player along with AW and we certainly wouldn't have won without him, but that is just not his game. He is excellent mid-range and in. Maybe limit him to one or two 3's a game, didn't JL have that rule for someone else recently? Maybe Theron Wilson if I remember right?

I think you are right but I think the limit wasn't on 3 point shots, but rather 3 point misses. He could miss 2-3 a game, then he had to stop trying them. That way if he was hot, he could keep chucking them up as long as they were going in & his shots were in the flow of the game.

Yep I think that was the rule, I think that would be good for TB as well. I always thought they were similar in playing style and athleticism, except TB has even more potential and TW wasn't half bad, so that shows how good TB can be. Haha i'm pretty sure it wasn't Sam Singh
