    That's because Portland did it in an exempt tournament that ESPN covered. Of course, the mere fact they did it warrants the attention right there, but still.

      DePaul is in a BCS league regardless of how it was classified! The Big East will not dump them because of the Chicago metro area's TV revenue generating ability. Where's the argument on this!

        would be great for all the teams involved and a formidable basketball conference that should command 4-6 NCAA bids each year and be able to secure a TV contract. A basketball only power conference. I think securing such a conference before the BCS football split that people foresee comes along would be fortuitous. Detroit's only there because they're a private school and in Detroit... Valpo may be a better choice, but no really good TV market there.
        I really like this conference lineup you've put togetehr. It covers several large markets, has basketball-centric schools, strong recruitment potential, and TV exposure. It's a pipe dream, but a good collection nonetheless.
