  • The biggest thing now will be to make sure we don't fall into the trap game at NIU. I stayed after the game though and talked to some of the players and I don't think that will be a problem.

    • Great trip to Vegas, glad I went. Random thoughts

All the JL for ever supporters, honestly, what were you thinking about him after the OSU loss?

OSU was VERY physical and the refs let them get away with it. I think this shook up BU a bit..

BU played tight after losing the early lead vs OSU until their 2nd half run. Unexplicable let down after closing it to 8 in the second half and missing 3-4 opportunities to get closer and OSU was really struggling and losing their confidence/composure..

BU crowd was awesome, out numbered by Illini fans, but not out cheered...

JL had a nice rotation in the Illini game, and seemed to have settled on a line up which was VERY ENCOURAGING

BU's Big Men (TB, MK, WE and AT) will be equal to BU's guards by the end of the season. Go Big (bigger)

BU were not intimidated, or out-muscled, by Illini...even AT and MK were banging with their bigs!

EM needs to have fun and shoot without fear/doubt. Let it fly...Misfiring (sometimes often) doesn't seem to trouble other BU guards/wings!!

DSE will be all Valley some day

Too bad band/cheerleadnig team wasn't there. The arena was pretty dead.

Officiating for ALL the LV games was pretty marginal

Very few game programs for the event were available

Tournament should rent a real scoreboard if they play at the Orleans Arena again

Very little media coverage of the event by ESPN, local papers etc. Can't believe the Utah Illinois finish didn't make ESPN, even on their west coast edition...

How in the world did BU struggle with Wofford and Presbyterian at home?

What was JL thinking by playing Ryan Phillips before half trying to cling to a lead...Nothing against Ryan, but the result was BU lost lead in last 2 minutes of the half...

So glad JL was able to enjoy the win vs Illini; he looked really down after the OSU game while he was watching the Utah Illini game by himself way up in the stands behind the BU crowd.

Lets hope no more let downs by BU, they have shown they can play well and beat better teams with their best effort! Great win...

      Keep it up BU!

Pretty sure that both TB & MK had 2 fouls apiece & JL was trying to keep them from a third. Didn't notice that RP was that much of a drag on the team, liked his aggressiveness & confidence in chucking up that 3 (albeit an airball)... EM should take note according to your earlier comment...

It seemed like BU ran the same play they did in the Valley tourney last year that left Ryan Phillips wide open in the corner for the 3 because nobody really knows about him. My understanding is that they practice that and he is actually a really good shooter, guess he just gets happy feet out there and threw it up a little too hard. Still like him being out there though, kind of a surprise play for the other team.

Have to commend his effort and aggressiveness also because after a ball was knocked loss and rolled back across half court, it was Phillips who chased it down with one of the Illinois players. Now he didn't come away with the ball but the effort was definitely there.

Ditto! I was happy to see Ryan get some playing time in a 'big game' and hope he gets some more during the season. I'm sure he works just as hard as anyone else during practice. Good game Ryan, you'll make that shot the next time. And I hope our other players make some of their missed shots too.
That was a BIG GAME, I'm still very happy. GO BRAVES!

You know you may be correct that it was the same play, but I'm pretty sure it was Brian Lavin that took the airball last year - LOL (disclaimer - this is not meant to be a knock in anyway on Brian Lavin or RP - they each give a ton to the BU program & both deserved the chance & would have loved to have seen either of them swish it through).

Wow I can't believe I confused that. I'm also a little disappointed that the Bradley fans that I am still here with didn't correct me on that. Thanks Romar

                • I liked the way WE,AW,TB,CR never backed away from the Illini and played a very physical "in your face" aggressive attitude game. I saw no fear in BU's game. Maybe these guys felt embarrassed enough from the Okla.St game that we can look at the Okla.St. game as the turning point for the season ahead and continue to play at a high level. The future is bright...

                  • great game and BTW Capt. Brave made a nice appearance with his patented dance in the aisle in the feed- good to see the capt. was overlooking the ball game.

                    • I had to miss this game as I was at a wedding in Chicago. That didn't stop me from bringing a small radio and running earbuds up the arm of my suit to catch the Illinois call of the game.

For those interested in re-watching the game, I just received the following response from HoopTV.net via email:

Thank you for your inquiry. We hope to make the On Demand games available for purchase on our site in the next two days along with DVD copies.

"Bradley had five players in double figures, led by Eddren McCain with 16, while Mike Davis had 17 for Illinois"

                        • Article from the Las Vegas Sun newspaper-
NOW This is why college wrestling coaches and those of other "minor" sports that get dropped for financial reasons don't particularly care for the way ...

BU grad Charlie Steiner, who is mentioned in that article, was at the game Saturday night.
Note that the article has Oklahoma winning the tournament, instead of Oklahoma State.

Avatar of the day Mike.....remember seeing the guys go crazy on the bench. I BELIEVE it was following AW's HUGE three.

                            THey bench just exploded....
