Top 25 upsets and close wins for Nov. 23rd thru 29th
some Tennessee fans are a bit upset that Bruce Pearl blew this one and coached away a chance at a win...
he used TWO consecutive, back-to-back time outs to try to ice a Purdue FT shooter at the end of the game
(with 32 seconds left and down one pt.)
..then didn't call one despite having TWO FULL TIME OUTS left!!!...and desperately needing to call one...as Tennessee got a rebound with 17 seconds left and didn't stop play to set something up...
in the end their center Wayne Chism was forced to launch a worthless 3-pt attempt at the final buzzer, when they only needed TWO points to WIN!!! .....but Tennessee didn't even try to find a better shot.
Apparently the players musta thought they needed three and Pearl never set anything up during the previous two time outs.
Here's just one of their threads attacking Pearl...
titled... "Horrible coaching at end of purdue game"

I stayed up and watched that Portland-UCLA game and the announcers were funny...
all they talked about was UCLA until it became obvious that UCLA was going to get their butts handed to them, then suddenly they looked up a few things about Portland and started talking about them...
and in the context of Portland they talked about successful mid-majors and mentioned Butler, Wichita, George Mason, they mentioned teams getting to the Sweet 16, the Valley, etc., but no mention of Bradley.
One guy even talked repeatedly about 2005 when the Valley sent 4 teams to the NCAA Tournament...
Anyway....UCLA is just really bad....
bad shots, bad passes...and then the laugher of the night, when one of the announcers tried to find an alibi for why UCLA is so down this year...
he said it was because they had a lot of kids like Jordan Farmar go to the NBA, and they graduated a couple top kids last season like Shipp, Aboya.
I laughed because every top program has players leave early for the draft and so then how does having McD AA's staying 4 years and graduating lead to a bad program??
BTW their current roster has 8 players who were ranked Top 50 in high school, and three more who were ranked between 80-140...so eleven Top 150 kids...plus a kid who was rated among the best of all Euro kids.
Sorry...no excuses...UCLA should beat these guys.

Still have a pending Clemson loss coming in about a half hour but it looks like a major shakeup to the top 25 tomorrow.
Michigan, Clemson, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Notre Dame, and Oklahoma are all in danger of falling out of the top 25. Only thing that may save them is all of the losses to higher ranked teams.

Clemson's comeback win over Top 10 Butler keeps them in the top 25.
Hmmm, I'm starting to wonder if Butler has overscheduled a bit. They still have a neutral site game against Georgetown, home games against Ohio St. and Xavier, and a true road game at UAB. They better win at least two of those four, though their Northwestern win is looking better by the day so far. Their win against a mediocre UCLA team won't carry as much weight unless UCLA gets their act together.
In short, they won't be within a sniff of the Top 10 when the new rankings come out tomorrow.
Michigan, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Notre Dame, and Oklahoma are all in danger of falling out of the top 25. Only thing that may save them is all of the losses to higher ranked teams.
