-Good adjustments overall on the poor inside D in the 1st half, but then that left many open perimeter shots. Need to get quicker on the inside outside D.
-Lets work on the 3 point shooting against Presbyterian, then get ready for 2 of the 3 toughest non-conference games we have left.

I'm expecting this season to be extremely balanced where scoring is concerned & there are going to be 4-5 guys averaging in lower double digits as the year progresses. That's why I really have no problem with EM not being a classic scorer & just looking to distribute. All I'd ask is that he step up & can a top of the key jumper from time to time to keep his defender honest (Billy Wright pre-eye problems comes to mind). Before his eye problems teams would play him more honest, after I remember it was a part of Creighton's game plan to just let him have the top of the key & dare him to shoot.
BU under JL seems to play up or down to the competition (sorry about the repeat for those in the chatroom) and I view that as good & bad depending on the opponent.

If I remember correctly...his first half yesterday consisted of being 0-3 from the field (including a quick, badly-missed 3 that resulted in him getting immediately yanked from the game), having 3 turnovers, and getting beat like a drum defensively on at least 2 back door plays...
He may have had a couple assists in the first half, but I didn't see much else positive coming from him...

3 minutes left makes sense but 8?! That in and of itself killed our momentum and allowed Wofford to work their way back into the game.
I felt like their were 3 players tonight that separated themselves:
-Taylor (my PoG)
-Will (proved just like I said that if given the touches, he IS the real deal)
-CRob (always shows up on BOTH ends of the floor)
That being said, the rest looked lost in parts of the game....
It was hard to say w/ DSE because he handled the ball great, got it down to the high and low post, and had one absolutely amazing rebound
Andrew played well in spurts, but did not once look to put the team on his back, something a star should look to do.
Sammy had one of his not so usual off games on the offensive end, however, he did a great job distributing the ball (5/1) and I can only recall 1 forced shot. He also had 7 rebounds.
Thompson looked much better tonight, but he still has work to do on positioning and defense. But yes, he was much better.
McCain just kills me because he can give you great ball handling and he'll go in and mix it up and get a few boards, BUT we can NOT have him in a game with other non-scorers and we can NOT have him and Sammy in a game together...EVER!
My starting lineup for Tue:
-Roberts
-Brown
-Egolf
-Warren
-Maniscalco
Also, because we're playing a much lesser team this will be the time to get certain guys more PT or to get ready for Fri. I expect DSE, Thompson, and Milos to have more minutes if at all possible.
That said, can we PLEASE for all of humanity, stop oversubbing, and PLEASE if we build a big lead, keep the same core in for awhile and sub one at a time?!

...new to D1 or not...that team is going to come to play. Last I checked the great thing about basketball is that any 5 guys can win on any night.

Taylor Brown changes the dynamics of this team. He is a force and will do nothing but get better and better! Also kudos to the coaches---They did a great job this week of getting our defense and rebounding back where it needs to be. Now we have to learn to do this every week, consistantly!
Poor shooting will happen from time to time but great defense can take up the slack until shooting returns.
WE had his best game yet and should be a very capable 5 being spelled by AT which also gives us the luxery of playing tougher inside defense since fouls are not as meaningful when you have 2 guys at the 5.
AT can also be a very good defensive 5 and he showed some good offense.
We need to find some offensive sets and ways to free up AW so he gets more good shots. This will be very important since Valley opponents will put great defensive pressure on AW all season long.
Its good to see MK getting some minutes---He passed up some open shots but should develop confidence as his PT goes up.
Same ol - same ol with EM. No real improvement yet. I agree that he and SM should not be on the floor at the same time unless we are pressed.

I think EM played pretty well last night and looked better than he had in the last two games. He was disruptive on defense, responsible for quite a few deflections. He handled the ball well and distributed quite well also. I agree with those posters who don't want him and SM on the floor at the same time, but I do think he offers a lot to this team and will earn his minutes throughout the year. We've been spoiled with PGs who can also shoot well outside, and I hope EM will progress in that area, but if he distributes the ball inside well enough then that should allow him to score more often off the dribble. Right now, I think SM should probably get the start at the point but he needs to limit poor shot selection early in possessions.
I think our guards struggled a bit last night because Wofford was flashing out a post player to interupt our movement around the top of the circle. The big was always late and often just sort of blundered into a Bradley guard, making significant contact but with no calls from the refs. Wofford's #50 could have fouled out in about seven minutes if they'd have called him for it. Anyway, this caused our guards to have to bring the ball inside, and frankly I think that's a positive development and I very much hope it continues. Scoring from both inside and out should make Bradley a much better team if we can keep it up.
Defense was pretty good, particularly in the front court where I thought it was very good. Egolf and TB both had excellent games on both ends of the floor really. AT looked decent.

The best part of last night's game(other than the W) was that for the 2nd game in a row, we weathered the storm and didn't fold up our tent. That's a hallmark sign of a good team. On the flipside, we continue to play to the level of competition. I fully expect a very sloppy 1st half tomorrow night.

How can we expect our team to have a killer instinct if our coach doesn't have one?
Up 12 with 8 minutes left holding the ball shouldn't be good enough as our players aren't good enough and will let a team come back like they did.
Maybe they need to have Jim Harbaugh come in and talk to the team
Letting teams hang around is nice and all for situational play, but its also nice to have a big shot of confidence going to Vegas and kick some teams *ss

On EM....The guy in the 1st half pulled down quite a few rebounds and would have had a few more assists if our guys could finish! Sorry I thought EM played well and improved from the 1st two games. Hey one non-game related note-- I bought a program and was disappointed to see that Dodie wasn't on the roster. Is that normal for an injured player? I'd have thought he should be listed as a member on the team.

Hmm...were Prosser and Eastman listed?

Very nice to see Egolf and Thompson contribute. Those two in combination with Roberts and Brown make this team very difficult to guard.
To me a very telling number is 16... number of minutes played by McCain, the 3 he took out of the time out in the first half was horrible. If he is only logging 16 minutes in a tight 2 point game, someone is not very happy with his game.
But to me other then the board advantage is again we controled the turnovers... 12 for a 3rd game in a season that number is fantastic. When you take care of the ball, which eliminates extra scoring opportunities for your opponent good things will happen. It was not to long ago this team was in the 20's on turnovers. This year 15, 8 and 12. Excellent turnover numbers so early in a season.
This team is a work in progress but if it continues to progress with emphasis on getting the ball in the lane, great things are ahead for this years team.
