I voted for Sam (based on his play versus EM so far), but I think a confident, controlled McCain as a starter gives us a better chance to win. I'd love to see SM as the 6th man spark off the bench but EM hasn't shown enough improvement to snatch the starting PG mantle.

As for Simms-Edwards......PLEASE! It's just TOO soon to even think about him as a starter. Let's see him show this same level of play consistently for a few games and, if he does, we can talk "starter" come MVC time.

He's slowly diggin his own grave with that thought process as it has done nothing but give him 4th place or below in the MVC for 7 years and counting. The results speak for themselves. I saw nothing last night that would lead me to believe that anything but 4th place is the highest BU will end up. If we don't land Wilkins next year 4th place or below will be perpetual (it already is). I said it a few years ago and I have not been proven wrong yet.

One question off the topic... Why does it seem like every point guard that plays Bradley is an All-American? Even the guy from Lewis looked good.
I predict we will see a 5 guard starting line up from BU before we see a line up with just 2 guards!

My how the tables have turned. Amckillip and I were just accused of throwing EM under the bus and saying it was "silly" to even be talking about how EM shouldn't be starting after his performance in the BYU game. Where are they now?

Sad, but given JL's comments on the radio show, I agree

I love JL, and actually don't have a problem with the 5-guard, but if you consider JJ Tauai a guard (I do), then JL has run a 5 guard before. I believe it was 07-08 @ INSU... I could be wrong about the date/game, but it was done during JJ's tenure...

I don't recall that...I remember JJ having to slide to the 4 sometimes, but it was rare...I never recall him playing the 5, and yes, he was a guard.

I don't know how to prove it to you, other than anecodotally, but I assure you it happened for about 4-5 minutes one game... I really believe it was in the same game as the infamous (probably just among my friends) 'JJ Tauai slow-motion spin move' to the hoop. BTW I really like JJ, and that isn't making fun of him, it was just hilarious to see.

I liked JJ as well...and I do recall "the move"...

Reason I liked JJ is that he worked his arse off to get to where he got by the time he was through here! He may not have scored a lot, but he was the best defensive player we've had in the last 10 years, PERIOD!

And then we got to the tournament and it paid off as he had an awesome tournament and was one of the main reasons we came within a second of making the championship that year.

I think we had 5 guards in against Providence for a stretch (in the NIT back in '07).

Does it really matter who starts the game. What matters is who is playing the best at the end of the game. On Sunday it was DSE who was doing the job. Are there going to be games he struggles in? Of course but we have 3 fine guards (didn't say all-americans) in SM, EM & DSE which is a luxury to have in college at this level. DSE is going to be very good before he is done and could step in as a starter if needed. Luckily at this point we don't need to force that action like we did when DR was a freshman. DSE will be as good as DR before he leaves.

I would argue that CR is more forward than guard. Now I would not say he is a post up forward. Maybe he is more of a tweener than anything. So if the line up includes, CR and WE at the same time, I don't really see us going with 4 guards. IMO, WE isn't a true post player either, in the sense that he is not your back to the basket type of guy. Todays game is far more athletic then even 10 years ago and teams are looking for the more athletic and give up on the normal labels.

But I agree with most, it matters who is playing in the guts of the game when it is being decided. Against Idaho St. I liked the line up we started with because they (ISU) were very athletic and fast. I would have liked to see a tougher zone when we went to it, but IMO we tend to wander a little too much in the zone and negate the reasons for going to it. It will an interesting season for sure!
Some see a hopeless end, while others see an endless hope.
