respect to the team?....they bought a ticket and can come in when they feel like and leave when they feel like it. I don't understand what the big deal is about that. People don't buy tickets with the stipulation you have to be there from tip-off to final horn.

oh..and I think Sunday games suck too.

One way to increase the number of folks who buy a ticket to show up is to charge more. A Rolling Stone ticket now days cost a ton so if you buy one you can bet your sweet buns they show up.

On those fans that seem so apathetic and have the prime seats and seem to ruin the atmosphere, well that has been going on since Carver opened. I use to complain about that but they are the ones funding the team. Unless the team moves to a more updated venue where the fat cats can have their own comfortable space that situation will never change. I'm surprised Chico has chimed in yet.
OK I'll do some chiming. 1. What atmosphere are you talking about at the Civic Center? Been to a game lately? 2. Who cares how the attendance is counted? If it's so important to so many why not publish how many tickets were sold and also how many fans actually went through the doors. 3. What's wrong with Sunday games? I'd rather watch the Braves than any pro football game. Guys getting paid millions to do their job and they dance and strut if they make a tackle or catch a pass. 4. Thank goodness for the fat cats who don't jump and down after every good thing the Braves do. Don't think the few students who show up would like going to the Armory.

They count tickets sold, which include non attending season ticket holders purely because, it looks better and for the reasons stated above..
Despite what you may think. This is NOT an accurate method. It ALWAYS significantly understates attendance. Barcoding, RFID and such are a focus of my work and many white papers explain that barcoding is not an accurate way to count the number of people at an even because so many proceed without getting their ticket scanned or getting it scanned correctly. Not that announcing the number of seats sold is accurate, but schools are far more willing to announce MORE than the actual attendance than less.

That's the great thing about message boards, there are differing opinions!

This is why I said......"I personally don't care for that..."

I never said anything about "stipulations" that come with buying a ticket. Obviously, half the people that buy tickets would rather stay home than even attend the game, so I guess I should just be happy those people that left early were even there to begin with.

That said, I personally don't care for some of the isu fan "chants" at their home games in the past and would hate to see that at Bradley games, but they have every right to chant whatever they want since there were no stipulations when they purchased the tickets.

Oh.....and I don't mind Sunday games at all.
???People say, ???Forget last year', but I want our guys to remember that one, because that will not happen again. We will be much better.??? Geno Ford, 9/22/12

It is the good thing about message boards...I guess I don't really see it as lack of respect. There are fans and there are FANS. Some look at basketball for entertainment and some are crazy for their team and the game. Both are fine in my opinion. You don't have to stand if you don't want to and it doesn't mean that you are not supporting your team. I would never tell someone to sit down either as I feel they have that right as well....
I have left early from games before but not any close games.

If the Packers aren't on TV then I don''t mind Sunday gammes so much..

I missed the end of that game to get to the BU game....I think it depends on who they are playing too somewhat. Idaho St., Wofford etc....our non-con is tough to get up for...regardless of the day

Well I do like football but I wholeheartedly agree with you on this Chico...

It use to be when scored a TD and now it's just about every play...ridiculous..

It made me chuckle also! It was pure Chico and I like that he stands up for those long-term fans which really makes BU special. Sometime you do not have to agree but appreciate.

BTW...What's up with the students not showing up? Games were part of the ritual of a guaranteed fun time. Pre-party hard, find a way down or take the shuttle, sneak in a flask, head to the bathroom, grab a beer and be in your seat by tip-off, cheer your butt off, head to the bathroom at 1/2 time, grab a beer, cheer some more and hopefully after a win you head to another establishment where you break down the game with some food. I know it was a large part of my positive BU experience.

I've missed one game now that I moved and I'm going through serious withdrawal and you're not helping... I thought this was the post-grad support board....

Really though, I kind of expected this. A huge group of the more intense fans graduated over the past year, and the contagiousness those fans exude draws in people who only make to every third or every other game and now those fans aren't as drawn in - a ripple effect if you will. Things like this ebb and flow at a mid-major team, even Butler's student section was weak a couple years ago, now its back in full force. I can tell you what would pack the stands - wins vs. OKSU and U of I...

Why even go if you have to leave before the game has been decided? Sundays game ended around 8:10 and I saw people leaving with 6 minutes to go in the game, it"s obvious they only came to be seen and it didn"t make a difference to them if BU won, most of these people sit in corporate seats (freebies) and are not that big of fans to begin with, the same ones that refuse to wear the promotional shirts because they might mess up their hair.

Agreed and was pretty comparable to my post...

You don't wanna be there, FINE!

                              Stay at home!

I'd rather have 5500 screaming loudmouths than 9k and 3500 ppl there who are either asleep, at the concession stand, or are not even paying attention to anything going on, OR would know whats goin on even if they ARE paying attention...

The Detroit Lions called, they want their fans back.

First...I personally don't go before the game is decided. Why others do? I don't know. It's there tickest and there isn't a stipulation when theyhave it. I don't think it's always to be seen either. Why is that obvious? Remember there are huge variances of enthusiasm in any fan base.. Those that leave early aren't on message boards like this but doesn't mean they don't support the Braves.
So people don't have the same enthusiam as some on this board...I don't get it it's their right. If they don't want to put on a promo shirt then so what? By the way I have seen the most vocal of fans and huge posters on this board not stand when the fight song is played. Does it make them less of a fan?
