We lacked fundamentals this game. We could have won if we hit ft's and had better ball control. SamM held the team up in the first half. CRob could be great if he would work on his fundamentals. McCain did not look good, save one gorgeous drive. Plenty of room to improve.
Easy to say now, it would have helped, but when we're that sloppy I'm skeptical.
I think that the game would have been closer with TB, as TB's abscence affected the substitution patterns tonight.
Bradley 72 - Illini 68 Final

bottom line - -- same thing can be said for every basketball game. If you shoot better and rebound better than your opponent, you will win.
BU shot 36% from the floor and 65% from FT and got out rebounded by a margin of 12. I'm sure TB's presence would definitely help the rebounding margin, but I doubt his presence would lift the team's shooting stats sufficiently.
Seemed like the game was "closer" than the 10 point final margin. We got down by 7-9 points within the first 7 minutes of the game (when we were shooting 2-10) and then played level with BYU the rest of the way.
Could have been better... could have been worse... all in all, not a terrible way to start the season.
I think the point when the game decidedly turned in BYU's favor was when BU (DD I think) missed the front end of 1-and-1 in back to back possessions. That is when BYU stretched the lead from about 5 to 13 fairly quickly.
TB would have made a difference IMO. I'm not sure about winning though. Turnovers killed us! We need to protect the ball. Overall I'm optimistic about the team.

I think with Taylor Brown we probably could have won.
I think with TB it would've been closer but I'm not convinced we would've won. This one doesn't sting that bad because without one of our arguably best players, we still managed to cover and almost kept it in single digits. Still lots of room to improve but I think BYU is better than most teams that we will see in the Valley.
For now let's move on and make sure we take care of business against Idaho St.
I agree with the general sentiment. Plenty to work on, but no reason at all to panic. I would like to see AW assert himself more. I know he's still shaking off the rust, but he had a very quiet 13. He needs to be the #1 option, not SM. (This isn't intended to be a knock on Sam at all. He had a nice game, and we definitely need his offense, too, but AW should be getting more shots than him.)
Did anyone hear any mention of why Milos never got in the game?
I didn't hear anything but then again I spent a lot of time mingling with differently Bradley people at the Fieldhouse. Good question though, I thought he would've gotten into this game since TB was out.
