I was wondering the same thing during the game last night! I will be curious to see how much pt Milos gets Sunday.
    Bradley 72 - Illini 68 Final

???It??™s awful hard,??™??™ said Illini freshman guard D.J. Richardson, the former Central High School guard who played prep school ball a few miles from here and fought back tears outside the locker room. ???It??™s a hometown thing. It??™s bragging rights.??™

This game was very simple regarding the loss. Missing 32 field goal attempts, missing 9 free throw attempts and being out rebounded by 13 and by 5 offensively, 4 more turnovers.

Yet this team kept it relatively close and competed all night. Dodie can not miss front ends of one - ones, that really hurt badly. Nothing personaly but I look forward to Singhs minutes falling below 5 minutes, hope he played 17 because of the TB thing and I guess they were not wanting to give heavy minutes to Egolf.

BYU is picked for 1st in the MWC but other then Jimmer, and if Warren progress he will be our Jimmer, I did not see a huge difference between the two teams. They exposed us on the boards a bit but they didnt shoot well either, we played good D and competed. Just would like to see this team play more fundemental basketball, but I truely believe that will happen.

BYU will play in the NCAA tourney, no good losses but this one was not a bad one either.

I think SM has to be the point guard. SM,TB,CR,AW,and WE. Should be the starters and play most of the game.

I like that. But we all know how it works now. We don't want to run up a score. When/if that lineup starts and it starts out hot with a 10-12 point lead, three of the players will be taken out after 5 minutes so they can cool off on the bench, then when we give up the lead the three will be brought back in nice and cool and we end up losing the game. We don't want to run up a lead, we just want to be liked.

I don't believe so, I think you can declare as long as you don't go into a game... That being said, MK may not be ready to go against a team like BYU in his first game ever. The last thing you want to do is destroy a kid's confidence and make him feel overwhelmed, over one game...

You are probably correct but, IMO, it shows to a degree we can play without him. IF TB comes back and plays well I'd look at a r/s for Milos.

Same thing as with Prosser, are his few spot minutes this year going to help us more then a year older year 5.....?

Interesting comments on PJS In Game Blog by KW:
"Seems to be an awful lot of jitters for a veteran team. Really wasn’t expecting to see that. The problem is the Braves are not doing little things well: rebounding, handling, screening."

"Time to get back into the game. Egolf scores on a baseline jumper off a penetration feed from Maniscalco and it’s a 4-point game. Thompson and Egolf are in the game together. Like to see that, going big."

"I like this use of two big guys. Egolf and Thompson again. Thompson executes a nice screen-and-roll and gets fouled at the hoop. Not a shooting foul, though. I like what he’s doing. Potential encouraging."

"I think I’d like to see Egolf and Thompson back together. … Yuk, BYU gets three — THREE!!! — ORBs and finally scores. And now Singh gets a post shot blocked. BYU up 10 and looking to extend."

"I’m encouraged by Thompson. He’s ready to play more. I really liked the few minutes he and Egolf were on the floor together. Not sure why we didn’t see more of that."

Not being negative, a nay sayer, or part of the never happy crowd, and, definitely not commenting on JL's MO...but, hopefully we will get to see more of AT and WE together in the next couple of non conference games at home, with TB at the 3. AT/WE are BU's near term future and should get most of the minutes. SS is who we thought he was...

I agree. I would like to see WE and AT on the floor at the same time. IMHO, at least right now, DD and EM need to be coming off the bench. EM is nowhere near the level of SM is and that was made perfectly clear last night. He has great potential but SM needs to start over EM at point when TB comes back. The team looked really good with SM, AW, CR, & WE out there together add in TB and shake some of the rust off (limiting turn overs, weird shots, start rebounding, etc) and this team could be pretty good.

would BYU have won if we were full strength and they were missing Tavrnari?
No way....BYU was lucky on Friday the 13th that's all..BU will be OK once we are at full strength.

We will be ok at full strength but we have very little room for error as if Egolf or Brown get into any foul trouble we will once again be stuck with our 4 guard offense, you just can"t beat very good teams playing so small as you get killed on the boards and good 6-3 or taller guards will shoot over are smaller guards, Prosser"s size and inside skills would have helped last night. I know he will be more valuable down the road but how much are we sacrificing this season without him.

I think it was pretty clear that BYU is a better team right now, but I really liked the flashes that Bradley showed last night. I'm even more excited about this season because this team has serious potential.

I still think 2010-2011 is when this team is back in the tournament, but if they can start to really put it all together before the conf. season, this year could be special.

Didn't get to see the game or hear the game without random moments of blackouts (THANKS WMBD) but I think that this game was a very winnable one, we just couldn't stop the All-MWC kid, can't think of his name Jimmer something or other(?) The constant of these past two games is that we have got to score more points. Two games in the 60's and the second was just at 60. Jim Les Basketball is 70-75 ppg and it is not happening right now. I think that we shot enough. We just need to get polished. We cannot pass up open looks or give up shots to take it baseline and get caught up with nowhere to go. Like I said, I didn't get to process much because o the blackouts on WMBD but I am not jumping ship and I am glad that the board understands how good BYU is. Still a little upset that they busted my bracket last year with the early tournament loss to A&M but they really are a good team. If my memeory serves me right this team was a 5 seed in last year's tournament. We will improve and hopefully we go out and drop about 90 on Idaho St. Sunday. We need 20+ from AW every game. GO BU!

I don't know T about your example/assessment of BYU losing Tavernari and not winning vs a full strength BU. Tavernari played 33 minutes and was 5-18, no FT, and only 4 RB (none offensive) and committed 4 TO. Doesn't look to me like he was a key to them winning, but I didn't watch the game.

BU has to learn how to win without all their players contributing, as I am sure there will always be nights in a season when one (or more) of the top BU players gets hurt, sick, or gets into early foul trouble and doesn't play/contribute a lot. Someone else has to step UP and get r done...
