I would love to go at this myself, but I don't have credentials in the state of Iowa as right now this seems as though its a three-party case with issue taken and processed in that state.

OK, I accept..I will take BOTH bets....

if John Wilkins ends up somewhere else I buy you lunch, but if he ends up at BU you buy me lunch FIVE times.

if Sean Harris ends up somewhere else I buy you lunch, but if he ends up at BU you buy me lunch TEN times.

......thanks for the offer, and let's see if anyone else wants more of this action...

there are CLEAR and defined damages....
have you ever tried to pursue a lawsuit in which you can prove no damages??
I betcha you'd lose such a lawsuit..so can you NOT see my point?
And yes I can see your point, but then again, I thought we were discussing him staying at the school and whether or not he would do so?

Thats what my point was...If he leaves, it doesn't change the outcome of the case, BUT it does change the outcome of how soon he gets to play D-I ball.

Because whichever way you look at it, IF he were to leave the school, I would imagine that tacks on at least a semester.

And you can argue that it makes his case better if he were to then leave the school, but that point could be argued both ways.

It's funny, because I would actually say there's a better chance that Sean Harris ends up here than JW. A much better chance. who is really going to recruit Harris away while he's on his mission trip?

The odds are 50-50 with JW and I'd say SH made his commitment and he's sticking with it. I have never seen a guy who did a mission renege on his promise.

I'd say its more like 90/10 for Harris and 15/85 for Wilkins.

The only reason for the 10% on Harris is that who knows, maybe he comes back from this mission and could care less about playing ball.

The Wilkins meter is at 15% and going lower by the day.

I expect him to sign with Kansas or Indiana or Illinois come April.

The NJCAA has told Wilkins he is not playing this year. Pending results on this potential law suit, thats the way it is. His next ball will be at Bradley (or pro, or other DI). The NJCAA is set on that.

So if Wilkins wants to transfer to ICC or somewhere near his family in Gary, Indiana to receive reduced tuition rates, he is free to do so. He will need to make sure his credits transfer, but the NJCAA would have nothing to do with his credits transferring. The Junior College academic centers would need to address the transferring of credits.

See what I'm getting at?The NJCAA is DONE with Wilkins (unless this law suit happens) so if he transfers elsewhere, they don't/can't do a thing or care about it. He would not be transferring to another JuCo (closer to home) to play ball. He would transfer to be a student and get his Associates -- so that he can be academically eligible to play DI.

Has Harris even left on his 'mission' yet? He was playing in a pro-am league this past summer. At least we know when JW's 'target' date is to arrive. What do we know about Harris other than he's a Mormon?

Thus, I predict JW will stay right at SICC, file the suit, seek the immediate injunction, and if the injunction is ruled in his favor, then he'll stay at SICC, suit up and play.
Agreed completely! Just for all the naysayers he "could" do that. I think he'll stay put, file the injunction, and be at BU in a year!

just let the kid play where he wants....get out of ruining the kid's life

Yes, he left for Honduras the first week of August.

I don't see any reason why signing an LOI would have any effect on his lawsuit. Sure he can claim that he didn't sign an LOI, but the fact that it was offered and he COULD HAVE signed it remains.
Let's not argue all the legal nuances here. Let's just assume that if JW is getting professional legal advice on this, they probably know a lot more about this than anyone here does. So for whatever reason he is choosing not to sign his LOI, I think he is making the right choice.

I have to say I truely hope BU is continuing to recruit and if someone is offered and they take the the ride for Wilkins we give it. All of this just reminds me of someone using BU as a fall back incase something better doesnt comes along.

I really hope JL and staff are not waiting around to see what Wilkins does or doesnt do.

When he is asked a direct question and did not give a direct affirmative yes Bradley is who I am signing with but not until the whole situation is resolved.

I'm taking a page from Da_Coach. Let's leave the recruiting to JL and his staff. I'm sure they know what they are doing and are also privy to what is happening with JW more then any of us. We are all just take a stab in the dark at this time.

having an LOI in hand is like having a coupon good for one free college education and years of basketball eligibility..

It's hard to convince someone you're badly hurt by their actions if you're getting what every juco kid strives for anyway!
