Well that is strange isn't it! So let's say that the injunction is filed and the NJCA maintains their ruling... Or could something happen in which the NJCA reverses their ruling?

I think this basically guarantees he never wears a BU uniform. He has a scholarship here if he wants it. This tells me he wants to see if he can do better and will pull out all the stops to do so.

Hopefully the Wilkins are not thinking we've been giving him bad advice (or others are showing they are crooked enough to get him playing now)

I have basically all but counted JW out for ever wearing a Bradley uniform. If he does it will be a pleasant surprise, but it seems like he may be keeping his distance right now.

what it means is that the kid knows this is an unfair and indefensible act by certain others...and he is going to sue for what is right...
he wants to remain "untethered" so that no direct commitment would draw any further attention to what his ultimate destination is...if you catch my drift..
Like I said, had he been headed to a BCS school, the NCAA and the NJCAA decisions would have been different...

Being a lawyer, I really don't see any difference in him committing to the university as one situation should be taken as a completely separate entity from the other.


I don't see him ever attending Bradley University. That is all I will say on this matter.

If he wanted to be a Brave he would sign, and there would be no more 'pressure'. He could go about suing the NJCAA knowing he had a place to play next year regardless of their ruling.

I have an idea...this is best for all involved...

let's take his name off our Scholarship Grid, agree he isn't coming to BU, and forget about the kid...trust me, it's best for everyone if we just all hold hands and think this thought...

Whenever I discussed this matter, I always said that he would never set foot at BU. I hope I'm wrong. I think we should just move on and go another direction while we have time.

I wish him well as I think he's getting a raw deal from the NJCAA (and the NCAA in the first place). I hope he does still come to BU, but no idea if he will. I guess I feel like he'll come here or he won't and while I'm hoping he does and that he's really good (and I'd point out that he did say he's only interested in Bradley still), right now I'm gearing up for a season he definitely won't be a part of. Let's get a big win on the road over BYU, and worry about Wilkins after the season is over (maybe paying a bit of attention to see how his JUCO lawsuit turns out).

I want John Wilkins to play basketball and get his degree at Bradley. I agree with those that think niether of these things will happen. If he really has his heart set on being a Brave, I think he would of signed. Hope I am wrong.

I was told of this plan a few days ago, and I heard much more of the story than is published by the PJS.
This does not mean it is any less likely that JW will end up at Bradley.
He just wants to play basketball, and he feels the NJCAA has targeted him and treated him differently than any other student-athlete in juco history.
I believe he has a good case, and the NJCAA does not have a large bankroll (like the NCAA does) to defend such a lawsuit.
He believes signing a LOI now could hurt his claim (or at least complicate it) that the penalty by the NJCAA hurts his chances of playing basketball at D1, or professionally. So he will wait to sign.
