Originally posted by Da Coach View PostI thought it went well for an early season exhibition. Lewis is a well coached team. I heard Scott Trost (Lewis coach) say he was disappinted with his team's execution and shooting, and I can understand that, but he has a number of solid players and will do well in their conference.
The missed shots and turnovers, and illegal screens will get fixed.
I saw great energy from TB and WE, better than I've seen from interior players at BU in several years. I thought the freshmen looked good for freshmen.
And I don't know why things didn't go well with EM at the point, but it seemed to turn around with Sam M. at the point. Probably the guys who had the worst games were the 3 seniors. That won't happen again.

Chance are if our bigs stay out of foul trouble we'll see WE or AT slip into the 4 position occasionally."Educate and inform the whole mass of the people...they are the only sure reliance for the preservation of our liberty."

Originally posted by BradleyBrave View PostRead everything on here...I think some people are overreacting a little bit. Yes, we had a 'scrimmage' with DePaul, but this was our first real game under the lights with a crowd. What was everyone expecting? We toyed with rotations and played nearly everyone on the roster in the 1st half. In the 2nd half, we shortened up and played to win until about the 3-4 minute mark when we were up 11. Had we done that for the full 40 minutes (like Notre Dame had to against Lewis), we would have won by 20 or more. I look at the box score and see that we played 9 guys at least 10 minutes, and no one more than 24 (compared to Lewis playing 5 guys 30+). We won't be during that during the season. The point of today was to get everyone used to playing in front of a crowd, experiment with rotations, and get through HEALTHY. All 3 were accomplished today. Sure, we have things to work on. But would you really want the team peaking on November 8? I feel no differently than I did before the scrimmage - If we're healthy and can avoid off-the-court problems, we'll have a great season.
Oh yeah.....I'm probably just making "excuses" for last season, but I think we might have missed AW just a little bit!???People say, ???Forget last year', but I want our guys to remember that one, because that will not happen again. We will be much better.??? Geno Ford, 9/22/12

Wasn't at the game, and couldn't really tell from the radio broadcast...
Any sign of life from AT as a one on one defender in the post, weak side help shot blocker, or rebounder? Mobility in the post area?
If BU could only clone TB's nose for the ball on AT! He is still only a sophmore and can still develop into a presence in the post - remember Rabey!BUilding for the Future

AT did look vastly improved and made a nice jump hook off an offensive rebound...he also challenged several shots...
He looked good on his two made FT's also.
He looked like a young Anthony Tolliver (also an "AT")......now before you claim I am predicting anything, I am not, but it is obvious that our AT has been working hard and the coach has more confidence in him.
It is indeed nice to be able to talk about AT as a contributor....so keep up the work, Sticks!
I would be more than happy if we get out of Sticks what Dana got out of Tolliver...
Here are some comparative stats....
A. Tolliver
-freshman - 0.8 ppg, 1 rpg
-sophomore- 4 ppg, 4 rpg
A. Thompson
-freshman - 0.6 ppg, 1 rpg
-sophomore- 4 ppg, 1 rpg (thus far, just one exhibition game)

I enjoy reading the progression of justification in this thread. It goes from we have a lot of work left to do, to it was just a exhibition game, to "this was all a part of JL's plan", to blaming the refs.
The season just started. You all need to calm down. You will be fine. Please give BYU a beating. I'll be rooting for ya.

I suspect playing the freshmen & non-starters for nearly half the game including 4 freshman at once down the stretch to close out a fairly close game was indeed all part of a well devised plan and that it'll pay off down the road...and I haven't seen anyone blame refs...
