With the exception of the O'Bryant years, when haven't we been primarily a jumpshooting team?

MCoachdude I have to agree about the PA announcer mumbling. Never had that problem before, but today Paul was hard to understand. In our section we thought it could be the speaker system.
What part of illegal don't you understand?

The missed shots and turnovers, and illegal screens will get fixed.
I saw great energy from TB and WE, better than I've seen from interior players at BU in several years. I thought the freshmen looked good for freshmen.

And I don't know why things didn't go well with EM at the point, but it seemed to turn around with Sam M. at the point. Probably the guys who had the worst games were the 3 seniors. That won't happen again.
Gonna go with my first prediction, need to score 85 points to win, also jake will be our inpact freshman lets see...

Chance of having an impact freshman in a guard position will be difficult. The only place where one will have a fair chance is at the 4. JE will see very limited playing time. EM, SM, AW, DD, CR, TB, WE, AT, SS will be the main rotation guy and if a freshmen can crack that lineup then I'd be extremely impressed.

Chance are if our bigs stay out of foul trouble we'll see WE or AT slip into the 4 position occasionally.

In the scheme of thing having a freshman as an impact player at anything other than guard is very unlikely... that said who what did/do you see

I agree with you here it's just that we are so deep at the guard position that it is unlikely that anyone except EM and SM will play the 1, SM, DD and AW at the 2 and AW, DD, CR at the 3. I do not see JL going deeper the 9 players on average throughout the year. If there is an injury then all bets are off.

I agree as well... At one point I thought he said something about Tony Dungy. I was quite confused. It also seemed as though the mic's for the band were a bit off as well. At times, one particular player was almost overpowering the band.

What was everyone expecting? We toyed with rotations and played nearly everyone on the roster in the 1st half. In the 2nd half, we shortened up and played to win until about the 3-4 minute mark when we were up 11. Had we done that for the full 40 minutes (like Notre Dame had to against Lewis), we would have won by 20 or more. I look at the box score and see that we played 9 guys at least 10 minutes, and no one more than 24 (compared to Lewis playing 5 guys 30+). We won't be during that during the season. The point of today was to get everyone used to playing in front of a crowd, experiment with rotations, and get through HEALTHY. All 3 were accomplished today. Sure, we have things to work on. But would you really want the team peaking on November 8? I feel no differently than I did before the scrimmage - If we're healthy and can avoid off-the-court problems, we'll have a great season.
Agreed! I also believe WE earned his starting spot after watching that game and is was reinforced after looking at the box score! I don't see anyone else at that position that even came close to his production today.

Oh yeah.....I'm probably just making "excuses" for last season, but I think we might have missed AW just a little bit!
???People say, ???Forget last year', but I want our guys to remember that one, because that will not happen again. We will be much better.??? Geno Ford, 9/22/12

Wasn't at the game, and couldn't really tell from the radio broadcast...

Any sign of life from AT as a one on one defender in the post, weak side help shot blocker, or rebounder? Mobility in the post area?

If BU could only clone TB's nose for the ball on AT! He is still only a sophmore and can still develop into a presence in the post - remember Rabey!

AT did look vastly improved and made a nice jump hook off an offensive rebound...he also challenged several shots...
He looked good on his two made FT's also.
He looked like a young Anthony Tolliver (also an "AT")......now before you claim I am predicting anything, I am not, but it is obvious that our AT has been working hard and the coach has more confidence in him.
It is indeed nice to be able to talk about AT as a contributor....so keep up the work, Sticks!
I would be more than happy if we get out of Sticks what Dana got out of Tolliver...

                        Here are some comparative stats....

                        A. Tolliver
                        -freshman - 0.8 ppg, 1 rpg
                        -sophomore- 4 ppg, 4 rpg

                        A. Thompson
                        -freshman - 0.6 ppg, 1 rpg
-sophomore- 4 ppg, 1 rpg (thus far, just one exhibition game)

I enjoy reading the progression of justification in this thread. It goes from we have a lot of work left to do, to it was just a exhibition game, to "this was all a part of JL's plan", to blaming the refs.

The season just started. You all need to calm down. You will be fine. Please give BYU a beating. I'll be rooting for ya.

I suspect playing the freshmen & non-starters for nearly half the game including 4 freshman at once down the stretch to close out a fairly close game was indeed all part of a well devised plan and that it'll pay off down the road...and I haven't seen anyone blame refs...
