Agreed with everything said here. I think it'll be better when our lineup is more settled, but we have a lot of work...
AW: Looked great
EM: Needs to settle down, the taunting is unacceptable
SM: Solid night, nothing Spectacular
TB: Going to fill in for TW very nicely
DD: Played well, but could have done a bit more
CRob: Kinda Quiet
AT: more than expected
WE: Not impressive
SS: Nothing out of the ordinary
DSE, MK, JP, JE: Too little to tell
These exhibitions are NEVER anything to either celebrate or worry about. Listened to the audio . . . sounds like a lot of experimentation. That's what I'd expect. BU will be deep. Probably not gonna win at BYU. But we'll see.

I agree. If we beat BYU it would be a pleasant surprise. I think we should be able to compete if we shoot well and D-up. I like the test in the first game.
SM could not throw the ball in the ocean today, it happens and he will bounce back.
WE looked very good. Very tough in the paint and I like that little 10ft shot he takes along the baseline. Needs to shoot more, and put two hands on the rebound and pull it down.
AW looked incredible. Very pleased and am very glad to see his sweet stroke back
EM needs to calm down. Tried to force some things and getting T'd for a taunt is childish
DD, TB and CR all played ok. Hope to see better games from them
SS for his 6th year looked lost. Hoping this is a one game fluke
Felt like MK got the shaft on a few foul calls. Thought a few calls may have gotten a bit ticky-tack. I enjoyed seeing the experimentation with different lineups, and feel we will be very deep. I am much more pleased after watching this exhibition than I was after watching last years...
Also, even though it only mattered on 1 or 2 plays... This "invisible arc" under the hoop is going to be an annoyance all year. Just paint the line.

Some good comments already...biggest concern for me is CR, aftrer the hard fall he held on to his right hand and even shook hand with his left hand after the game! Let's hope its not serious.........glad to have AW back...he was sorely missed last season and will be 1st team Valley when said and done IMO!
PS.....can we PLEASE stop the moving screens? All four centers has a moving screen(SS, AT, WE and JP).......
I thought it went well for an early season exhibition. Lewis is a well coached team. I heard Scott Trost (Lewis coach) say he was disappinted with his team's execution and shooting, and I can understand that, but he has a number of solid players and will do well in their conference.
The missed shots and turnovers, and illegal screens will get fixed.
I saw great energy from TB and WE, better than I've seen from interior players at BU in several years. I thought the freshmen looked good for freshmen.
And I don't know why things didn't go well with EM at the point, but it seemed to turn around with Sam M. at the point. Probably the guys who had the worst games were the 3 seniors. That won't happen again.
B-10 we'd have won easily by 20 if we just went with starters like Lewis did and like SIU did..
Lewis basically played their top 7 guys the whole way...our subs in the first half accounted for half the minutes!
but Coach Les went with 12 different players and a million different combinations of players on the floor at once....and that was just the 1st half!!
In the 2nd half he not only went with 13 different players, but he went with all four freshmen down the stretch when our starters would have stretched the lead from 12-15 all the way into the 20's and it was a smartmove to give the freshmen prime minutes!
T, my thoughts on this game are fairly similar to yours. IMHO, playing the freshman down the strecth was extremely gutsy! I heard on WMBD on the way home that the most minutes that our experienced players had was 24 minutes. Notre Dame's starters logged around 30 minutes in their game against Lewis. My main statement is that I think that JP should have logged more minutes with the experienced lineup especially when WE had 2 early fouls. We also need to work on feeding the ball to the post players. Yes we have some work to do, but if anyone was scouting this game, they had and have their work cut out for them!

4 players earned their starting positions for friday nights game against BYU,
A.Warren
C.Roberts
T.Brown
W.Egolf
The point guard position was not played very good today except for DSE as he made the best decisions and also played great defense.
I was not happy that we continue to double down low on defense and left their 3 point shooters wide open and we paid for it.
We also continue to play small which is fine until you play against top notch teams.
I see no reason why Egolf cannot play the 4 as well as the 5 because of his athletic ability.
I realize this was an exibition game but it was the last tuneup before our first game and we seemed to be scrambling to come up with the right combinations , it does not look good when your staff is not set on who should be playing by now as that is what practice should have determined by now.
I did see a lot of good things but I also saw the same weaknesses we have had for several years.
I sure hope we play much better against BYU or we will be in for a long night.
I am sure there will be people who'll look only at the score and say BU is weak and we played poorly...
and believe me, we do have smoe areas for improvement...but I suspect Coach JL never felt scared he was going to lose...he never made any panic moves or reinserted the starters..
he knew what he was doing and it'll pay off in the long run...

From my perspective, it appeared that Milos must have earned the right to be the first of the freshmen off the bench and into the game. He appears to be a little ahead of JP so far. All the freshmen looked a little nervous at first, and I am sure they'll get over that quickly.

I agree with all you have said here. But I to think there is a lot of work to be done by Friday! If there was one area of disappointment it was at the point! Sammy didn't have his O game going (it will come) but I thought the team ran better with him at the point He also played really good D, having 4 steals and a bunch of defections. I was disappointed with EM's game! I would not be at all surprised to see a different starting line-up come Friday. Five days and we shall see.

It certainly will pay off in the long run. My gutsy statement is that if the game had been blown while the 4 freshmen were in the lineup, then the second guessers would have been coming out of the woodwork. If people look at today's scrimmage as a game, then they are sorely mistaken. IMHO JL and staff were clearly putting lineups on the floor for a given period of time to see how the players meshed and didn't mesh.
