  • 3-star 2007 guard drops ISU

Antwan Boyd, a 3-star 6'2" combo guard from Anderson (Indiana) high school cut his recruiting short and committed to Middle Tennessee State University after a visit there.
Boyd had been recruited by Illinois State, and had a visit coming up to the ISU campus, but he cancelled those plans.
He had also been offered a scholarship by Ball State, Bowling Green, and Indiana State in addition to Illinois State.

It does sound like a good recruit for MTSU. According to the article, the kid was recruited for a long time by assistant coach Art Pepelea, who had previously recruited Boyd when he was an assistant at Bowling Green U., and is also from Anderson, Indiana and attended the same high school. Papela moved to Middle Tennessee State as an assistant this season.

As Bradley fans have seen, sometimes past relationships have a lot to do with recruiting (Sommerville, Ruffin, Boogie, Zach).
