Do you even watch the games? Historically, regardless of how favored one team is over another, the BUvs.ISU games are always played hard.
Was that meant for me or Cooksey? I believe he's the one predicting isu will sweep the series this year and win by "A LOT".
Yes, I watch every Bradley game I possibly can.
???People say, ???Forget last year', but I want our guys to remember that one, because that will not happen again. We will be much better.??? Geno Ford, 9/22/12
The ISU game at Bradley last year was fairly one-sided, despite the final 4-point margin. Bradley lead by double digits for all but about 2 minutes of the second half, and some desperate shots by ISU and missed FTs by Bradley closed it to 4, but the final outcome was never in doubt. ISU fans must have though the game was over early as I saw some ISU fans leaving with a lot of time on the clock.

Nope.....Bradley struggled to beat them! Just ask the isu fans.

Although I agree that the game was pretty much over at that point, alot can happen in the last 2 minutes of a game. I recall a certain Illinois/Arizona game a few year back.
And your mighty redbirds, one of the last undefeated teams in the country at one point, struggled at home to beat a Bradley team that was without their returning leading scorer and a starting center before he got injured. Am I supposed to lie and say I was SOOOOOO impressed with isu? You also played a decent team on the road last year, because you had to, and got beat rather badly if I recall. Again, I apologize for not bowing down to the isu redbirds!
No one's asking anyone to "bow down". You are consistent in one area Guth. You constantly refer to the injury crutch. You do realize that all teams suffer injuries right? You do realize that the injury to which you refer occured months before said game correct? You do realize your team had ample time to adjust and play around that player right? It's not like that guy got hurt in warm-ups of that game and you had to scramble 5 minutes before tip-off with a new line-up.
The injury to Warren was costly. he's a solid player. But please don't include Egolf. He was not your starting center. The fact is no one (not even your coach) knew what Egolf was or is for that matter. He's had such a small sample size of PT there's no way to determine what his role would have been by the time that game rolled around. He could be another Singh-type role player. You don't know. So to me it makes no sense to use him as part of your injury crutch and assume he was a huge loss. He showed limited flashes of ability and really what more can you say about what he's done in 2 years? He might end up an all-conference player for all I know but at the time he was hurt he was the Webster's definition of an unknown commodity.
I could say the same about Bobby Hill being a huge loss and I'd be far more justified as Hill started several Valley games as a freshmen and has far more collegiate experience than Egolf does. Has Egolf ever appeared in meaningful minutes in a Valley game let alone start one? I'm asking because I don't ever personally recall seeing him play any meaningful minutes in a Valley game. I know for a fact Bobby Hill was a penciled in starter going into last year before he blew his knee out. But.....I don't use his absence as an excuse even though I know he would have helped last and guess what......we don't have him this year either but there are no excuses. That's the way it goes.
Earlier this summer I was lambasted on this board when i commented that you guys see Egolf as an impact player. But now you are saying what a big loss he was when he got hurt. Well which is it? Is he an impact player and a big loss or is he an unknown? I see him as an unknown and I'm thinking those close to the situation do as well. Not hammering you Guth but several on this board change their views on Egolf to fit their particular day's argument.
All that said.......you don't have to be impressed by anything. I guess I agree with you. UNI didn't impress me last year either and somehow they won the league handily and beat my team 3 times and I still don't know how that happened. Sometimes it's a weird game that we love.
Dinma Odiakosa 6'8 255......The Nigerian Nightmare!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 37 points and 27 boards in 2 wins over Bradley. "Will Egolf is 6'9 and he had 4 rebounds. That's not good enough and he's not good enough"....Dick Versace 2/9/10
DannyCooksey I understand all that you said but one correction. Will Egolf was going to be our starting center last year. It is our belief that he would have made a huge difference then what we had, not a stretch! We'll alll find out this year anyway.

I think this illustrates the difference in fans. I for one don't like that so many people expect so much out of Egolf. IMO he hasn't proven himself at all, not a knock on him, but he's a RS sophomore, who has never played more than a few minutes in a tough game... That being said, I think AW was a much bigger loss than Hill, AW was projected as our best player. For ILSU that would have meant losing Oguchi (or King O if your of that persuasion).

Amp all I said was that he would have been better then what we had. Is that too much of a stretch? If it is then we really are in trouble!
Hey SFP, didn't mean anything other than a difference in opinion. I was agreeing with DannyCooksey that I don't think WE would have made a big difference, whereas you thought he'd make a huge difference. Twas all I meant.
Man I take one day off of work, don't get on the internet, and the best, most civil (fairly), BU/ISU argumentative thread in a while takes place... AND I MISS IT??????
You're the one that acted as if I was supposed to somehow be impressed with the redbirds after the game here. You then questioned my thoughts on Bradley since I wasn't impressed with isu. So yes, I figured you were expecting me to bow down to the mighty 14-0 redbirds.

I do see Egolf as an "impact player", but that's not what you said. Actually, you said "Seems like Bradley is banking on Warren and Egolf (both returning from very serious injury) to be starters and arguably their 2 best players."
I'm not sure if any fans are even counting on Egolf to be one of the best two players on this year's team and I highly doubt anyone at Bradley does!
