Southeastern won last night 91-52 over Spoon River

yes he can sign as long as he's on track to get his degree next spring, and it appears the coach confirms he is...
his NCAA clock started when he enrolled for spring semester at juco so he has 5 years for 4 seasons of althletic eligibility...
so he has 3 years for sure (he might miss this season, but he could play 2010-2011, 2011-2012, and 2012-2013)...but it is remotely possible that he'd have until spring of 2014 before his 5-year clock expires (remember, he already used the spring semester of 2009 and now he'll use up the whole 2002-2010 season at juco), so just maybe he would even be eligible for some games in the 2014-2015 season...so he might get 3.5 years....
depends on a few things...
Taylor Brown - had he spent 1.5 years at juco would NOT have come to BU with 4 full years left...just easy math...
Thanks...that all makes sense...I knew of the "5 to complete 4" rule, but I had forgotten that Wilkins enrolled last spring and that his clock already started before the 2009-2010 season...
I never thought that the NCAA could be bested when it comes to imposing arbitrary and/or unduly harsh penalties for inadvertent/minor violations, but if JW is ruled ineligible for the entire season, as it sounds he has been, the NCJAA may be even worse.
If he is suspended for the season, does that prevent him from practicing with the team?
While I would never wish anything bad on any of our recruits (although this is minor compared to Zach's and Eddren's family life), is it wrong to be somewhat selfishly glad other schools will not be seeing him in actual competition before he can sign a LOI with us?
Unbelievable. The way he's been treated since he got here, I wouldn't blame him if he got on the next plane back to Belgium. That said, I hope he stays in school, gets his AA and finally makes it to BU next year.
The 5 game suspension by the NCAA is insane compared to what others have done and gotten away with, but this decision by the NJCAA is in a word unfair, I have to wonder if there is a presidence and if this decision is exactly as any previous decision the NJCAA is concerned.
Regardless in a way this is likely best for BU. Out of sight out of mind so to speak. Hopefully Wilkins will sign the LOI and be here on campus next season.
As bad as it sounds... this could benefit BU. If any of the rumors are true that other bigger schools were looking at him, they will probably back off now that he will be out of basketball for so long. It will be interesting to see what happens from here...
The whole thing is just not right, hopefully John signs his letter of intent to come to BU and has 3 great seasons here as he has gone thru a lot this past season, he will be appreciated more then ever here in Peoria.
