  • Creighton Writer does an MVC Preview

and guess who he selects as the favorite to win the Valley?

This is an independent site, but it clearly denotes the preview was written by the guy from the Creighton fan blog
Follow more Missouri Valley Conference Men's Basketball coverage on Rush the Court featuring Patrick Marshall

ps--keep this thread away from the Indiana State fans...they're gonna get REALLY ANGRY, and after you read the segment on BU
check to see what this guy is smoking...

    One final comment--
he makes mention of the Valley being 84-93 all time in the NCAA...
but BU is 27-18...so how bad would the Valley's record be without BU??

The more I read the more it becomes clear how little turnover the Braves will have had this season... His description of Creighton made me wonder how they're going to fill the holes. Dana's got a good program, but CU and SIU both look like they have down arrows for the season. Can't wait, either way.

This may be a stupid question but where in the heck did WSU come from? Why are they almost unanimously picked to finish so high in the valley this year. I don't see it.....

Yes they could be a surprise but that's what it would be...a surprise. I fully expect a 5th or 6th place finish from them. At best a 4.

If you got a chance to watch WSU last year you would see that they had some good young talent, with a pretty good class coming in.

Of all the MVC teams WSU scares me the most with their potential.

most writers are ripping Bradley for lack of experience and scoring in the frontcourt...

so I ask...who does Wichita State have in the frontcourt??
...and since I already know the answer, then I ask why don't those writers similarly point to WSU's lack in the frontcourt?

This writer fails to mention that Bradley played virtually the entire season without 2 of their starters, including their best player? He lambasts Jim Les and says he is on the "hot seat" for underachieving, but then ranks SIU above Bradley and excuses their awful season by pointing to their injuries last year.
He also says Indiana State has virtually everyone back from last year's team, and never mentions their loss of All-MVC forward Jay Tunnell. The piece appears to be poorly researched.

I totally agree with you B4L They started off slow in the conf. play with 6 straight lost's but finished conf. play winning 8 and losing 4. Won their bracketbuster game and then beat MSU and lost by 1 to Creighton (a game they should of won) in St. Louis They also beat Creighton earlier, which is not done by luck! I am not sure what they have in new players this year but based on how they finished conf. play and what I saw of them in St. Louis, I agree this team just may be the biggest surprise in the valley this year. Well, next to BU, but in my view I don't consider BU a surprise, but a sure thing GO BIG JIMMY

Fair enough. I generally like WSU. I'd be happy to have them as a top team in the valley. I just want SIU to be low. I want ISU also but they won't be.

I'd prefer ISU being high, with a higher BU. Ideally ISU would have only 4 losses, all to BU. (2 conf, MVCt and FF!)
