    but to balance "all fairness"...
Bradley has always seemed to have Harry Marshall's number...

In the only game we faced Harry last year, he had 11 pts with 8 turnovers
AND ...in Harry's career (three seasons), BU has held Harry under his average every time and overall held him to only 7.5 ppg in the five games we've faced him.

I like Harry Marshall, but the only way someone could say that he is "one hell of a player", IMO, is if you only look at a few of his numbers, and don't watch him play or evaluate his entire game.

Here are his stats from last year-

He plays more minutes than anyone in the league, 35.5 mpg.
He shoots an awful lot- 237 total shots for 300 total points- that is not a good ratio. He is a poor outside shooter- 25.5% from three- that is way down the list of guards in the MVC. Every guard on Bradley's team shot better than that last year, and last year was Bradley's worst three-point shooting team in years! They used to call a player with this kind of game a "gunner". He can win you an occasional game, but he'll shoot you out of a lot more of them. And these poor offensive numbers were not because of injury, as they were similar in past years.
In addition, I have seen him play quite a few times, and his defense is weak. With Jay Tunnel gone, I expect to see Marshall have even more trouble scoring this year.

Indiana State did play good ball at times but they were horribly inconsistent and their D was even worse. Until they can prove that they can play 40 minutes of ball and play good team D, I would not pick them over any of the teams in front of them. There is a reason we are picked so low and other teams ahead of us. One thing that SIU and WSU bring to the table is defensive toughness. We have not shown that we can be consistent night in and night out nor shown defensive toughness. Matt Salley brought that to his game for us two years ago, last year we lacked that factor, who do we have this year that will deny the other teams from easily taking the ball to the rim? Guards are what rule the Valley but SIU has proven that defense can win this league. There is one reason I will not choose CU from winning the Valley that is they also lack defensive toughness.

3.Taylor B is no where near TW.....

              Why we won't finish 6th:

              1. AW brings back memories
              2. Will stays healthy and is a rebounding machine...
              3. Taylor shows they were right (kinda) and exceeds the play of TW....

We've gotta remember that we don't have the "transferring in a BCS player effect"

...and that two of our likely starters are coming back from injury. If those go sour, or below average anyway, we could be 6th. But if they do what they did before they were injured, at least... we'll be fine

Don't forget another potential starter didn't play a ton last year (but showed flashes, especially in Brazil)... to the media/coaches, thats three starters that are "unproven" -- only EM and SM are probably considered "locks" to be great according to these guys.

Let them all eat it when we outperform these expectations. Let the negativity roll... because even if things happen for the worse... we'll do "as expected"

I like your optimism..but this reminds me like deja-vu of numerous comments I heard at the Valley Tournament in March of 2008.

The seats we had were just a little towards the end line, so we stepped across the aisle and sat just to the BU bench's side of mid court about 7 rows up in a section that was totally well-to-do Sycamore fans.
They were very polite and pleasant, especially compared to the behavior of a bunch of maroon-clad fans back across the aisle where we came from
(who cursed and moaned and even called their AD over to have us expelled from our rightful owned seats because they didn't want any Bradley red near their package seats.)

Anyway, as the InSU fans talked on and on they were bubbling with enthusiasm and were 100% sure their team would be a factor the following year (2008-2009 when InSU finished just out of last place) and might even contend for the title...but at the absolute minimum they are all sure that InSU would surprise everyone...and I can even recall several precise reasons they were so sure...
--their coach would be lots, lots better since he'd had a year to get his feet wet.
--he'd have more of his own players
--The single most notable belief was that superstud in the paint, Isiah Martin would develop into the dominant post player in the Valley and build upon his great freshman year
--incoming freshman (at that time) Carl Richard was not only good enough to start, but he'd be All-Valley and lead the conference in scoring
--The other younger players like Carter, Printy, and Leitnaker would all develop into some of the best at their positions
--and lastly they were sure Indiana State was about to land an NBA caliber center...I think they were talking about Josh Crawford who verballed a few weeks later.

I am appalled as a BU fan at the lack of respect we have gotten by being picked 6th , I hope our players remember this before each and every game this season as a reminder that most of the teams they will be playing in the conf. do not think they are a good team, hopefully they will post this on the locker room door so they can see this before they go out onto the court as a reminder to do some a-- kicking.

wow...I've said in the past I don't see a top 3 finish. I admit that I think it could happen if a few things bounce our way, but if we do not beat InSU this season...then wow.

Man I hope we win the valley. Shove some people's face in it lol.

Thanks for being polite, even if it is in an effort to troll for a reaction from partisan BU fans.

But if Indiana State wins the MVC, I will be happy to wash and wax your car, isusycs23!

To be honest only ONE really did anything before they got injured. The other showed some flashes but to put his impact based on past performances with the other isn't a true comparison.

AW has shown us what he can do...WE really hasn't. Not saying he won't we just really don't know what he's going to give us.

                                To ME...he's the X factor.
