This could be the answer to our old redshirting question...

Great interview, PJS! This is the kind of stuff we've been looking for

I guess it makes sense for Jake to do it with the guards ahead of him in the rotation.

I have heard Jake has been really impressive with his shooting and how quickly he has caught up on conditioning. He's a great shooter, something this team lacked last year. A redshirt year would probably benefit him more than Bradley. We loose 2 good shooting guards after this year (Dodie Dunson and Chris Roberts), and he'll fit in better with next years team.

        hmmm

this is very impressive, bradley is at or near the point where good players can redshirt a year, also i think some recruits may see that, and may not want to wait a year or two, this is a good problem to have.

Not sure it "answers any questions" - just maybe poses one--
seems it's 50-50, still not decided...it is still kinda speculation...

          two other thoughts...

--Jim Les has been at BU for 7.5 years and only ONCE has a player chosen to redshirt from the outset (Anthony Thompson), and never a guard -- I cannot even recall the last time it might have happened before that even in the Molinari, Albeck, or Versace era...
It just rarely happens at the midmajor level (we are not counting injuries or players who dress but whose talent ends with the player never playing like Saihou)...
That's because teams really covet DEPTH!!

--we may look stacked with guards, but unless you have a short memory, surely you will recall serious depth problems that came upon us unexpectedly with injuries, defections, and issues to Ruffin, Crouch, Warren, Norris, TCS, Ray Brown, JJ Tauai, Phillip Gilbert, James Gillingham, and even Granger, Tucker, etc...all of whom were players whose suden absence left us wishing we were deeper!

I was really hoping Jake could be a zone buster that came off the bench to keep teams honest. Unfortunately, this redshirt thing almost sounds like a done deal. Since he's open to the idea and it benefits both Jake and BU over the long run I say do it.

If we stay healthy it seems to be a great idea for both parties as Jake will have 4 more years and I hate to see him waste a season if he only plays a few minutes a game, it also gives another member to next years class, remember Wilkens hopefully will be added to next years sophomore class which would have 6 players if no one decides to redshirt.
