  • Local TV Deal?

    Hey all,
Has anyone heard anything about BU's local TV deal for the upcoming season? Can we expect it to be similar to the past two seasons?

  • #2
It will be similar from what I have heard, but maybe even more games televised. Because Bradley was not finished scheduling, so the exact TV schedule has not been completely finalized, but it's close. They are also trying to deal with the people who own the rights to certain games (Las Vegas).
Plus there may be news about a broader TV broadcast area for the games this year.

Just a thought that's been marinating ... the "new" movie theater with a liquor license over at Landmark says they can show some sports games at the theater ... If there was a big out of town game or something, would it be reasonable to see if they could get interest from those of us who aren't able to travel with the team?

I was unaware of such a setup, but would definitely be interested in checking out the long-distance (Las Vegas; Utah) games at such a place!

That would be pretty neat... maybe for the BYU season opener?

Something needs to change because of those of us on the east side of the river with Mediacom get ZERO Bradley games. Ridiculous.

That's a really good idea re: Peoria THeater. I'm pretty sure they'd be game. I go fairly often, I'll ask next time.

That could be pretty cool. Though I'm not sure if I'd prefer that over a sports bar, other than the fact that I'd know everyone was there to watch the same thing...

I'm on the west side of the river but maybe too far west. I think my cable hub (from MediaCom) is from the Quad Cities - so I don't get Bradley games either (but I did have Bears games back in 06-07 season when Peoria couldn't get them... but I don't watch football -LOL).

But I have heard there is hope we all can believe in for more coverage of games for many of us.

FYI......I just called Buffalo Wild Wings at Grand Prairie to see if they carry the Mountain West Sports Network and would be showing the Bradley/BYU game. I was told to call back the day of the game because they won't know until then.

Call back and ask if they have the MTN channel (616 on Directv).

I have yet to come across a Wild Wings that wasn't using Directv and didn't have the MTN Channel.

Their song and dance about calling the day of the game, is simply because they print out every game that they get the day of the game.

There are 2 football games on the MTN channel on this coming Saturday. (Air Force / Colorado State and Wyoming / Utah). You could also call up there on Saturday and see if they are able to get those games.

If they are, which I am sure they are, then they will have the Bradley / BYU game.

I'm not sure if the Lewis Exhibition game is included in the Season Ticket package or not but they now have 20 days to get the season tickets printed and finish the televised schedule before the first home season game. I would imagine they would want a 1 week cushion for season ticket pickup, so technically 2 weeks to get that last game scheduled and get season tickets printed up. Looks like it's going to come down to the wire.

This is the second time in two weeks that I've had to agree with/commend an ISU fan. This better not start becoming a habit! Nonetheless, great idea, cpacmel! And I agree -- I'm pretty sure they have it.
