There were over 500 people at the BU Gala and Auction last night.

I had the chance to talk to most of the players. They are all axious to get the season started, and best of all, they are all healthy.
The players did not appear in "formal" outfits this year, but they all looked great.

There were several vidoes shown, including highlight videos of the men's and women's teams last year, and a video with some highlights of the Brazil trip.
Then there was a 4 minute video of both teams doing a dance routine. It won't rival the MVC Shuffle video that went viral on YouTube last year, but it was funny. This year's video is not likely to end up on YouTube!
Then the program featured some funny routines by women's Coach Paula Buscher and Virnette House-Browning, rapping with a couple of the players, and men's Coach Jim Les rapping with Taylor Brown and Anthony Thompson and singing a country song with Will Egolf and Sam Singh, complete with cowboy hats. It was all geared toward encouraging the fans in attendance to bid for the many items available.
There were 3 large "Silent Auction" tables with great items available for bid with a silent auction format where bidders wrote their number on a card, and the highest bidder won the item. There were around 350 items available on these silent auction tables, ranging from BU memorabilia, and signed items, to sports experiences and vacation trips worth thousands of dollars. It appeared that every item received bids, and most items went for close to the suggested value.
Then there was the live auction- 28 individual items were auctioned off in the usual live auction style by a volunteer auctioneer. Here are a few highlights--
A men's MVC basketball package for next March's men's MVC tournament, including 3 night's hotel, 2 all-session tickets, VIP tickets/passes, and tickets to all MVC events went for $850.
Some fabulous vacation packages went for prices ranging from $1000 to $5000.
Honorary seats (2) on the bench for selected games went for bids from $800 to $1350.
2 men's basketball season tickets (Section 12, row D-great seats!) went for $2700!
A golf package with Coach Jim Les for 3 individuals that included a private flight to north of Chicago, one round of golf at "one of the countries most exclusive golf courses on the North Shore", complete limo service, and a great dinner before returning to Peoria went for an unbelieveable $5000, which was $2000 more than the auction estimate.
A day with former BU and MLB pitcher Brian Shouse, including private instruction for 10 kids, went for $950.
A package that included 4 box seats to a Bears-Rams game Dec. 6 went for $2200.
And a 7' x 10' section of the old Fieldhouse basketball floor, which included the MVC logo, went for $3500!

This site has all the items listed except for a few late additions-
