  • Jeremy Fears officially a Brave

As of the start of the 2006 fall semester. Since his committment came after the spring signing period, no LOI was signed. Now it is official.

PEORIA, Ill. -- The start of the 2006 Fall semester at Bradley University led to an addition to the Braves men's basketball roster as former Ohio University star Jeremy Fears (Joliet, Ill./Joliet Township H.S.) officially joined the team Wednesday. As a NCAA Division I transfer, the 6-foot-4 Fears will have to sit out the 2006-07 season and will have two years of eligibility remaining for the Braves when the 2007-08 campaign begins.

Keep your fingers crossed for XC getting cleared first. Then we'll worry about making the most of these last 2 scholarships.

These guys will all be gone after this year -

          Will Franklin
          Zach Andrews
          JJ Tauai
          Danny Adams

Did you forget DA? He's on a scholie this year, and it runs out after this season. Most forget that.

Fears' scholarship is Patrick O'Bryant's. So technically, it's a scholarship already filled. That brings us to a grand total of 5 newcomers for next season. DW has verballed, but supposedly there are still academic issues at hand. Nonetheless, we have 2 scholarships left that must be given to impact bigs.

Eh, maybe. He's much better though and much more athletic. He probably has better point guard skills. They are probably comparable from the perimeter, but Fears can flat-out fill it up. He's also bigger than TB. Fears will be a top guard in the conference next year. While Tony was great for BU, he was never in that category.

sounds great if he is much better than tb. i really thought tb was one of the more under-rated players with much fire. fears sounds like valley player of the year material.

I wouldn't go as far as predicting those types of awards, but I would say he'll be an all-conference caliber player the second he puts on a Bradley uniform.

I shared the same sentiments regarding Tony Bennett.

Maybe I misunderstood Paul Herzog as he was introducing the players last night, but I thought I heard him say JF was 6'0" tall. He appeared to be every bit of 6'4", and solid.

By the way, did it appear to anyone else that Saihou Jassey had "bulked up" since last year? I think he could be a factor inside for BU this year. In fact, he may need to be.....
