    Bradley 72 - Illini 68 Final

???It??™s awful hard,??™??™ said Illini freshman guard D.J. Richardson, the former Central High School guard who played prep school ball a few miles from here and fought back tears outside the locker room. ???It??™s a hometown thing. It??™s bragging rights.??™

Answer- the same tired old criticisms about how long it's been since Bradley has won an MVC tournament, won an MVC title, been to an NCAA that we've heard hundreds of times and are raised every few days on a message board.
There is nobody who doesn't know these facts, and raising them again won't change the optimism about this season. In fact, it won't change anything.

You start two threads, one about JL's contract and the other pointing out how long it's been since an MVC title and an NCAA appearance. If you have a point to make, just go ahead and make it so the board can have a discussion.

              what is 940,237?

              answer-- mouse over to read..

it is the total paid attendance at Bradley games over the past 3 years....
and it is the 2nd best BY FAR among MVC teams (behind Creighton)

it is 145,157 MORE than the next best team in the Valley (WSU ranks 3rd in the MVC)
and ranks BU well inside the TOP 50 D-I schools in the nation!

                Well said.

ghunt, you can have defecting opinions, but don't think we're unaware. You are deliberately coming in with an agenda. Just state your thoughts, your apparent disappointment with JL, and discuss! Or just move on.

A deliberate "agenda?" It sounds so notorious You mean like gently reminding folks about the program's performance? Off and on through the years I have presented a balanced argument with nothing personal about it. We had one great year in his tenure thus far. The great history of this program is effectively becomming just that--history. There may be ancillary reasons for supporting Jim, and there are some tangible basketball reasons for supporting him as well.

However, the basic performance criteria as an MVC school is to win championships. 2006 was a great and wonderful ride and I am very thankful for Jim on providing us with that season. But, that was one season, and the last two seasons are a vivd reminder that the usual manner for MVC teams to make the NCAA tourney is through winning the MVC tourney championship, and usually the regular season can get a school there as well. We have done neither in 21 and 13 years--that is one heck of a sad drought for this program. We are not Indiana State or Drake.

If Jim gets us there in the they next two years, great--I support him in that effort and success. If he does not, nothing is wrong with University supporters contemplating someone else who can. Nothing is wrong with reminding folks what the goals are and that they are to be more than goals--they are to be achievements. Sure, one may say, "No, duh, well all want that," however, it seems that all too often in the same breath, those same folks seem all to complacent with a middle of the pack finish.

I noted the heated discussion over the summer whereby Jim Molanari was used as a seeming standard for retaining or dismissing a coach. It would seem that based upon the level of discourse that Jim Les may be walking that line, especially when the third-tier tourneys are factored out to make the two coach's accomplsihments more standardly comparable. Nothing is wrong, as a fan-base, for holding the current Jim accountable by discussing the program's performance.

Jim is a competitor and is a grown man who knows his position. It is our responsbility, and fun part of being a fan, to remind that there is (at least was) a passion on behalf of Bradley fans for consistent success.

Ok, so now that I made what is seemingly my annual "I wish we were better speech," Go Braves!

I think the passion is reflected in record attendance, season ticket sales, new campus building and excitement, alumni donations, etc.... That is where "the Les must go" conversation differs from from "the Mo years". Mo was a good man and a good coach but the excitement in the program had died -- it happens. Les is a good man and is becoming a better coach each year. It is obvious that he wants BU and BU wants him. Let it go, man

With that doctorate degree he should have, I'd hope he has the most rebounds!

Better believe it. Without them, us, even the Armory would be too big.
