Unfortunately some of the biggest money boosters are in Jim's corner regardless of the record.

True...but he never really embraced BU's long tradition or the whole 'Once a Brave, Always a Brave' thing. Nor did he chum up to the big donors the way Les does. To a degree I respect him for wanting to make 'his' mark and do things 'his' way, but that lack of relationship building I think may have led to a slightly premature dismissal.

Gees, I did not know Merf could shoot free throws

JL will be around a few more years primarily to see what he can do with the new facilities. Clearly most of the money was raised by him (from big buck supporters) for these facilities and he deserves the chance.

I don't think we will see anything significant changing unless he brings in a seasoned new coach to help him. He has two years to make it work either way.

I think we'll see an overhaul of JL's assistant coaches at the end of this season, whether it ends well or not. We by far have the least qualified staff in the MVC. Depending how this season ends will likely determine how much say JL has in the process.

At least the most inexperienced. Since Merf left, we have 0 with any Division 1 coaching experience of any kind!

Same couple of guys were out two nights ago (between a bad loss and what should have been a big IA ST game). Not exactly the type of in-season behavior that I like to see.
That's really all it will take. A high profile player problem involving EtOH could easily be the excuse needed to change coaches.

I also don't want to see that happen. As much as I want a coaching change, another off-field incident doesn't help the program or the school.
JL are not respunsible foor the string of injunrys....

"Zenger, .....ISU athletics director in April 2005, said his evaluation of coaches in any ISU sport centers on three areas - recruiting, program management and coaching."

"In each of those three areas, I would tell you the program had merit and also is lacking," said Zenger. "When those were weighed against each other, the decision was to go in a different direction." Porter Moser's Firing....

Their new direction has gone to two consecutive MVC tournament finals and NIT tounaments...no coaching change slump there as several posters have feared if BU ever tried to go in another direction...

If this year flops for BU, I can't help but think next year is JL's 'Rubicon' as far as demonstrating his program can reach the success he tantilized us with his team in 2005-6..

I started a thread showing just how much behind the rest of the league we really are.
