He barely played when they were not deep with guards, so how much will he play now that the Illini young guards are more experienced, and they have the 2009 class with some talented guards in DJ Richardson, Joe Bertrand, and Brandon Paul, plus Alex Legion will be eligible for the whole year?
It puzzles me why he wouldn't want to go somewhere he could play meaningful minutes, instead of being a benchwarmer.

Bruce Weber says, not so fast. He will have to take some time to consider whether to allow Jeff Jordan to return to the basketball team.
"He made a decision (to leave), and I??™m not totally sure why."
Also, here is a nice article about Peoria's D.J. Richardson, one of the incoming guards on the Illini team-

DJ Richardson seems to rival John Wall in the sense of the most hype I have ever seen for a player who hasn't played a single college game in his life.
Where are all those people who say hyping a kid ad nauseum dooms him to failure by raising expectations so high that the kid cannot possibly fulfill them?
DJ is a 6-3 wing guard without an especially great outside shot. Some have likened him to Luther Head, but he hasn't got nearly the ability to hit outside shots, and some have likened him to Roger Powell, but he's markedly smaller, thinner, and 3 inches shorter.
I even cited on writeup a few weeks ago that claimed DJ was going to be one-and-done and in the NBA before his sophomore season!
Personally I cannot recall a single local player with this kind of hype going into college. Jereme Richmond is also getting this kind of hype, but he's at least led his team to the IHSA Finals and been a scoring leader on his team.

The rest of the team worked hard all summer while Jordan took the summer off, I would not take him back because it sends a bad message to the rest of the team that just because he is Michaels son he can do whatever he wants without consequences.

well..I guess it didn't matter...even tho everyone else was hard at work and Jeff Jordan took the summer off..
Bruce Weber still might need him, so he's caving and letting Jordan back on the team.
"The coach was concerned about a lack of experience - and depth - in the backcourt,
particularly after Bertrand missed most of fall workouts following knee surgery.
"It's scary because if somebody else goes down or something," Weber said earlier this week."
One generally reliable site got it all wrong, tho, as they reported Jordan had left U of I to go to Central Florida and is now back at U of I!
