Anyone else have any thoughts on the ITOO Supper tonight?
Had a great time (as always) attending the kickoff of the BU basketball season. The food was good, and I enjoyed sitting with some of the players (Ryan Phillips, Jake Eastman, DS-E).

My biggest takeaway from the event was the interaction of the players. They seem to really enjoy each other's company (as evidenced by their reaction to Drew's imitations of Superfan, Sammy, DD, and the Coaches Bish). They appear to be a very close-knit group, which will hopefully pay dividends on the court when the season begins.

In addition to meeting the players and listening to the coaches, what I enjoy as much as anything is seeing old friends who love BU basketball as much as I do. It's good to get reacquainted with friends/co-workers, as well as seeing former/current posters on the Board.

I can't wait for the season to begin...Go BU!!

Just a couple of things to add.

        1. While in line, we had the pleasure to talk at length to Dodie Dunson. I have to say that Dodie is a very impressive gentleman and an outstanding representative for the BU team. Both my friend and I who talked to Dodie came away extremely impressed with him.

I also had a chance to briefly meet Chris Roberts as I had him sign my BU-Oakland ticket stub. Chris gave me a strange look when I asked him to sign my ticket stub, then he laughed when he saw the game printed on the stub. Another nice guy.

Last but not least, I am glad to hear that this event is being moved on campus to the new arena next year. Congrats to the person in the athletic department responsible for this great idea.

Me too..but the very first game at BYU will be tough...
likely they will be the class of the MWC as everyone is picking them #1 in the MWC...
The game AT BYU on Nov. 13 is the very FIRST regular season MVC game against a D-I opponent..so the Braves had better be ready!

Seriously, I got stuck at work finishing up some month-end reporting. Sounds like a fun evening and I'm very much looking forward to next year at the new digs!

This is GREAT news! There are now NO excuses for this team! This should, without a doubt, be a top 3 team in the MVC!

Stay healthy and let's go dancin'!

RE Comments about BU Players -

Over the past couple years several upperclass BU BB players were hired as interns in my former company's Marketing Dept. for the summer semester. I had the pleasure of managing one player, and working with several others before I retired. I was always impressed how polite, mature and hard working these kids were - juggling school committments, work, and their off season basketball committments. Glad to see the current BU players exhibit the same traits from the comments from those at the Itoo event.

One helpful suggestion for this event next year. At the table where they were selling Bradley merchandise, the sweatshirts and for that matter most shirts that they were selling were only available in small or medium sizes. I purchased a pullover jacket at a reasonable price, but was astonished at the lack of selection that was available at a Bradley event.

Again, I am just trying to make a helpful suggestion for next year.

Hey does anyone recall what JL was talking about when he discussed "after we returned from Brazil...."

I THINK he said the guys were feeling pretty good about themselves and I had to bring them back to reality (or something of that nature)...and he did that with the start of some of the toughest workouts (5:30) am he has ever incorporated into the esrly season workouts.

He mentions the guys got real familiar with the stairs at the PCC and told the guys NO ONE was going to outwork us at home.

The workouts and stair comments were made...I just can't recall if it was what he said following the return from Brazil comment....

                          Thanks...

                            Here are Jim Les' words-
???When we came back from Brazil, we thought we were the schizz, in their terms,??? Les said. ???They thought they had arrived. So we as coaches had to bring ??™em back to reality. This has been one of the toughest preseason campaigns we??™ve had since I??™ve been here, not only physically but mentally.

???We??™ve done some 5:30 a.m. workouts. We??™ve touched every stair in the Civic Center. We??™ve been in the pool at 6 a.m. We??™ve had a dose of toughness. In my opinion, the only thing separating these guys and the goals we have for them to be a special team is their mental approach and mental toughness.???

The BU website has some video from the Itoo Hall event-
PEORIA, Ill. ? The Bradley men's and women's basketball teams officially tipped off the season at the annual Meet the Braves Spaghetti Supper Tuesday at the ITOO Society Hall. Hundreds of fans packed the hall to meet the 2009-10 squads and to hear special messages from men's head coach Jim Les and women's head coach Paula Buscher.
