Chico...of course we think that way, but if you ever travel east of the Alleghenies or west of the Rockies, and if you wear Bradley gear, I will guarantee you'll be asked "where is Bradley".

I would definately agree with that statement Chico. Unfortunately, there are not that many "real" basketball fans. Most are "bandwagon" fans, bred by ESPN

I am positive I would be familiar with it

I have no doubt that when I was a Senior in high school I would have been very familiar with Bradley. Now if I didn't live around here I may have had no idea where it was. Being a sports nut, it is not that unknown of a school. I am 46, but following basketball Bradley would have been a school I knew the name of. They have been in some tourney most years. I would say they would be more well known than many schools that have played in the NCAA tourney.

I'm glad I didn't grow up in the computer age. When in high school, when the oldest of four of us, that played 2 on 2 365 even if it meant shoveling a foot of snow, got his drivers licence the first thing we did is head off to Comiskey Park. I can't imagine what it would have been like to grow up playing with a computer and not playing sports. I basically know where all the small to mid-size cities and villages are in Illinois and some surrounding states. I even know where Peoria, AZ is - been there. Been almost everywhere. I can't imagine growing up 2 hours away from Peoria,IL and not knowing there is a major university there. I can't imagine growing up in Iowa and not knowing about Peoria, IL. I didn't grow up in Iowa but have been to Des Moines and know there is a major university there, been to Storm Lake too, how about Waterloo, ever hear of Jewell, Iowa. I think I heard or read somewhere and it can't be true, I hope not, that something like 30-40% of American grade school/high school kids can't point to the USA on a globe.

I know our students are dumb and our schools have failed, and the family unit has fallen apart which, in my opinion, is the root of most of what is wrong BUT.......... THIS CAN'T BE TRUE! . Say it ain't so Joe!

Some of you guys aren't grasping the concept. We're talking about young people not knowing. You guarantee that when you were in high school you knew all of these cities including Peoria and where the colleges were, etc. The common denominator in most of that is that I bet there is a minimum age of 40 of the people saying they KNOW they knew of Peoria when they were in high school. That is my point. Older people DO know because of Bradley's basketball past, and even more likely if they are an older sports fan.

The fact is if you are not a sports fan and younger you have never heard of Bradley before. Tell me exactly..how would I know where Bradley is my junior year in high school? Believe me I wasn't doing research of which school to go to that early, I had never seen a commercial or any type of advertisements for the school, they hadn't been doing nationally well in basketball, our only mainstream sport, and I didn't play basketball in high school. How was I supposed to know about Bradley just out of the blue? And I'm using myself as an example because this is how it is for most.

I knew about Peoria, but basically only knew it was a city in mid-illinois. I had no idea about the population, size, Bradley, until I looked into BU. I had just heard about it. I'm telling you right now most kids in high school looking for colleges do not know where Bradley is and have never heard of it, I promise you that. The percentage of people not knowing drastically increases if you are from out of state.

The majority aren't morons (for some that may be the case) it's just how would you know about Bradley exactly? And tornado is right. He listed those schools and I had no idea where they were except for BYU. I think Rutgers is in southern New England somewhere like southern NY or northern NJ. And Cornell is in New York, I think Ithica. That's all I know though.

Anyway the point is the same. Younger people have NO WAY of knowing about Bradley unless they are specifically searching for DI schools in Illinois, private schools in the midwest, engineering schools, now radio broadcasting schools, things that make us unique. BU doesn't have much that is unique that specifically makes it stand out. Bradley is virtually unknown outside of central Illinois except to avid sports fans and people who can remember the 50's pretty well, and alumni of course.

By the way I think that stat is a little high. People are using scare tactics about education.

You keep going on and on about people not knowing Bradley or Peoria. Guess I should have been more clear in my first post. The writer, who I presume was a sports writer because he's writing about POB, must be a young sports writer if Bradey was "little known" to him.
What part of illegal don't you understand?

Chico none of my post are really directed at you. People keep going on about how they knew where Peoria is and they can't believe how young people don't know about BU or Peoria. I'm simply telling it how it is and defending young people.

Alright you guys win. Kids are stupid because they don't know about Peoria, because it's the "third largest metropolitan area in Illinois". Give me a break. I guess we're supposed to give a **** about where HQ is for Caterpillar also.

If you are just messing with me and joking around I'm sorry, but right now I'm pissed off. The cardinals are an embarrassment and I don't want to messed with.
