John Supinie's article in the PJ Star this AM reports that Jamar Smith showed excellent point guard skills during the Big Ten tour of China. He may play some PG this season. With Dee Brown gone, the only other point guards are soph Chester Frazier, who is offensively challenged, and Trent Meacham, a walk-on who has not will become eligible after sitting out a year after transferring from Dayton.

I would think Jamar playing a different position is a bad idea. He was so successful at the off-guard position, making a lot of clutch shots last year. If he plays PG, he will not get those open shots. I expect his scoring and shooting percentage to suffer. This year's team will not have as easy time scoring as last year's team. They need Jamar's scoring more than they need him at point.
