Nice coverage...hopefully there'll be something similar on the BU squad soon....
    a couple comments...

--the freshman class .."is pretty tight..We're all the same age"
..but Carmichael is a year and 5 months older than Upshaw.
Heck, senior Eldridge is almost exactly as close in age to freshman Carmichael as Carmichael is to Upshaw! (1 yr, 6 months)

    --a couple injuries are mentioned..
......incoming junior (juco transfer) Austin Hill "sidelined" with toe injury and being "held out of workouts for the next couple weeks". Wow - that's a lot of time "sidelined" for turf toe!

......Bobby Hill still recovering from knee surgeries, "needs to regain strength in his legs"

......Jeremy Robinson, who tore his ACL a couple years ago and seems to have never gotten back fully...despite some claims that two months after his surgery Jeremy was playing basketball in open gyms.....

Now Robinson tore a knee "cartilege during a workout last week", and "will undergo arthroscopic surgery on his right knee today". Tough break for JRob...kid can't catch a break!
    Phillips seems recovered.

I think you are taking that too literally. I am sure he meant around the same age.

According to a search I just did, Turf Toe takes several weeks to fully recover from:

All too frequently, return to athletics is rushed, the injury is not completely healed, and the athlete suffers with a chronic condition as a result,” says Dr. Ramin Modabber, MD, Santa Monica Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Group. “Return to sports that involve running on hard surfaces should be assessed very carefully. In first-time or minor injuries, 3-4 weeks may be adequate rest. However, in severe or chronic conditions, activity modification may be required for 2-3 times as long. In extreme cases where bone spurs are present and range of motion of the joint are limited, surgical management may be considered as well.”
Dr. Modabber says that Grade 1 big toe sprains (turf toe) are manageable and may not prevent a quick return to action in two or three days, if not sooner. Grade 2 sprains may prevent playing time from one day to two weeks, and Grade 3 sprains could keep a person out of action 3-6 weeks; longer if surgery is required.

How long do the effects last?

The length of recovery depends on many factors such as your age, health, and if you have had a previous toe injury. Recovery time also depends on the severity of the toe injury. Pain from turf toe may last several weeks or longer. You need to stop doing the activities that cause pain until your toe has improved. If you continue doing activities that cause pain, your symptoms will return and it will take longer to recover.
Better to aire on the side of caution now, than to have it linger during the season.

......Jeremy Robinson, who tore his ACL a couple years ago and seems to have never gotten back fully...despite some claims that two months after his surgery Jeremy was playing basketball in open gyms.....
He was recovered enough to average 22 points and 12 rebounds per game as a SR in HS. Which was better than what he averaged prior to the injury (19 and 11)

He and Egolf both seem a little snake bitten with their knees.
