  • The Other Taylor Brown Thread Is Too Long... So here's a new start

I thought I would change the discussion from who did what and who said what to just how this will impact basketball.

Speaking purely from a basketball fan who wants his team to WIN every game, I am just wondering to myself what his discipline will be? If it is a suspension where he sits out game(s), BU could lose him in games that could turn out to be huge by the end of the season. Notably, the BYU game. How many times over the recent years have we lost an impact (or potential impact) player when playing a big game against a BCS type opponent either through injury or actions like Mr. Brown? I don't have numbers in front of me, but it just seems like quite a lot; and when we do play these teams we seem to always do it short-handed.

So, what's the purpose of this thread. Heck, I don't know... But I will tell you that Mr. Brown will be in my doghouse for a long time if he costs BU wins. The season is already up in the air with WE's knee and AW's foot. We don't need this other kind of _____.

If he sits for DePaul or possibly DePaul & Lewis then he will have served 2 games MORE than all the penalties combined that the two DUI's at ISU served, PLUS the two DUI's and the several underage drinking arrests at SIU plus the arrest there for destroying property at the Carbondale police office.

But - having said that, I will leave it to the staff who have done quite fine to this point without my help.

I'm just hoping this isn't anymore than what was already stated, a fight between two guys, one of whom was a tool, but should not have escalated into a fist fight. There were other ways to handle this guy, like, hmmmm, maybe ignoring him! Now there's a risk he may not be available for BYU, which is a HUGE game for us this year.

      Not good!

This appears to be nothing more than a non-basketball related fight . I would be surprised and disappointed if TB was suspended for any thing more than what tornado has suggested. I think some form of community service would be much more constructive on many counts.

I agree entirely. I would hope he does not miss the BYU game. Are there any NCAA penalties (may have already been discussed... sorry)?

No NCAA penalties. This is a non basketball issue and it is the individual universities that handle these situations. Let's not jump into him losing any games. Why should he lose even one guys? There are other ways for him to contemplate what he did but none of us know what really happened and I for one am not condemning him for any real harsh punishment. I'd imagine a early curfew along with a few more laps after practice with community service would be appropriate for the conduct. You would have thought he was arrested for DUI or some other horrible incident.

Coach Les has already said this matter will be handled internally, and that TB will be disciplined. I am certain this means extra workouts when NCAA rules allow, and TB will not miss any games.

I predict TB will be one of Bradley's top 4 scorers this season, and will be our top rebounder.

I doubt TB misses any games(and I don't think he should either) unless something else comes up regarding this incident....and I doubt anything will

Why always bring up other school's problems. We have enough of our own.
What part of illegal don't you understand?

Why shouldnt he bring up the other schools, their indisgressions and how those schools handled the penalties for issues their basketball players were involved in? Sure BU has had issues but I find it interesting to see the various issues ISU, SIU etc have had and how they handle discipline.

And if Torando didnt bring up the issues it is likely no one ever would bring the issues to light.

Guess I don't care about their problems. Again, we have enough of our own.

I find it amusing that anyone would think that Taylor would be suspended for any exb. or scrimmage game let alone a regular season game, this is a matter where guys will be guys and it happens all the time, he does need to control himself as he represents BU but lets not make such a big deal out of such a minor incident.

our kids do get disciplined even if other schools never do...
funny how so much criticism comes from the fans of schools who have even more lawbreakers that never get penalized.
