Jim Les once quipped that before he graduates they'll be calling Sam, Dr. Singh since he's been at Bradley so long.
Seriously...Sam entered Bradley in the fall of 2004. Now entering his 6th year...Sam has played in a total of 106 Bradley basketball games already
...he has the chance to set the all time record.
But in that same interval, Bradley has actually played 170 games, thus Sam has missed 64 games during his career with two knee operations,
a shoulder operation, and fractured nose, and other things.
He may also have the all time record for games missed as well by the time he leaves, but I sure hope not, we need him this year!
Sam has scored a grand total of 319 points in his Bradley career, but that's not what's important. It is his overall contributions that people will remember him for.
His high flying dunk, his minutes played while in pain and with a face mask on, and his giving up his body for screens on guys like Eric Coleman and Osiris Eldridge.
Sam is by far the most experienced interior post player we have.
Will Egolf has a grand total of 201 minutes played, and Anthony Thompson just 46 minutes.
So he will be a key player this year, and we need him more than ever.
My favorite Sam Singh memory, was Sam taking an elbow to the face in the SEMO game and fracturing his nose, then missing the next two games...
(no, that's the bad part...now the good part...)
Then Sam came back against SIU on 12/28/08 wearing the mask, was 3-5, 8 pts, 5 rebs, 2 blocks and a career high FIVE steals!
...and was a huge part of a big, blowout win over the Saliukis!
Sam followed that up with a rebound basket at Wichita with less than a second remaining, off a Sam Maniscalco miss,
to give BU a 60-58 road win over the Shockers!
Sam had 10 points helping BU to their first win in a Valley road opener since 1996.
Here's wishing Sam Singh an All-Conference caliber year....and a chance to get back to the NCAA Tournament!
Stay healthy and have a great year, Professor Singh!!
Wow, Sam can sky almost as high as Jordan Eglseder!!
