  • Dodie

I am here to say a few things about Dodie Dunson, BU senior from Bloomington.

Dodie doesn't grab a lot of headlines, he's not a troublemaker, he doesn't hit the 70-ft bank shots,
he won't awe you with high flying dunks (very often), and he doesn't talk himself up....

but here's what I KNOW to be true about Dodie...
-He is an ultimate team player, not selfish, always supporting his teammates, never looking to hog the ball or take his shots
-he is a really great guy, a magnetic personality, and easy to talk to
-he does do a consistent job of filling the stat sheets...points, assists, rebounds, steals, etc...
-his shooting pct. is decent because he takes good shots
-he also does the unsung things, picks, defense, and is a work-horse in the gym lifting weights and training to be better.
-he provides leadership and helps the younger players
-he is on the HONOR ROLL and is a very fine student!
-Dodie had a perfect 4.0 GPA last spring!!!

-and I think Dodie will be a huge part of what will be a SUCCESSFUL YEAR at BU in 2009-2010.

Note the stats from Brazil....we didn't hear much about Dodie, but he was solid!

15.3 ppg (3rd best on the team), 4.7 rpg (2nd best on the team), 2.3 apg (4th best on the team), 1.5 spg (3rd best on the team)...

Dodie is one of only TWO Bradley players to rank in the Top 4 of all four of those stat categories. (the other is Chris Roberts).

So-- here's a "shout out" to Dodie....we love you, thanks for picking Bradley and have a GREAT year....Go BU!!!

      Nice Points

I don't know if he has any interest in it, but I think Dodie would make an excellent coach after his playing time is through. Hope he has a great season and gets to enjoy a great season for the team this year.

These are the same two players that Les commented on for their work ethic last year. I think he said something about being in his office and hearing the b-balls dribbling and going to see who was there & it was Roberts & Dunson. Both were transfers last year and historically under JL (& probably true in every program) transfers play better in their 2nd season. Looking for a good season and loads of leadership from both Dodie & Chris.

I think Dodie is our best defender and I am counting on his to stop the other teams stud.

DD is the type of player/student that should be exemplified in today's world not the one and done with attitudes. He is everything right about this game and am glad he chose to be a Brave and represent BU with class and dignity.

Dodie's hand injury kept us from giving UNI our best shot in St. Louis last year. I don't know if we would have won, because UNI proved they were the best the league had to offer, but I would have loved to see what we could have done against them a 3rd time at full strength. Dodie was one of the only guy who truly wanted to guard his man at all time, and I look forward to a great senior season from DD.

Great thread...I'll add two more thoughts.

                          1. Dodie is also one of the most polite, humble people I have ever met. If you ran into him in the street and started a conversation, you would never guess he is a D-I athlete. He is great to talk to and after sitting next to his father during 2 road games, I can see where Dodie gets his personality from.

                          2. The fact that Dodie was named co-captain last year BEFORE HE EVER WORE THE UNIFORM speaks volumes. I don't know of any other examples of a played being named a captain in his first year with the school.

Dodie is the most approachable athlete I have met. . .well out side of Zack Andrews, who would just smile and say hello to everyone.
