I apologize if it looked like I tried to compare Merriman's incident with TB's.... I am not... just trying to say how athletes, regardless if their level, are under greater scrutinty (sp?). Even high school kids could make the front page of the paper for a DUI or other crime if they are an athlete... it's just the way it is...

we know NOTHING of TB going out of his way...
he has every right to be at Macy's, I've been there many times for gosh sakes. Was I going out of my way???
He was also at a BU soccer game and at Haussler Hall....so tell me just WHO is going out of his way to make sure he's in the presence of Taylor Brown??
It is certainly more "way out of his way" for an ICC student to be at Haussler and at a soccer game than for TB to be there. In fact TB BELONGS there!!
So it sounds to me like the ICC guy is the one going OUT OF HIS WAY to be sure something was going to happen here...and check the comments of this blogger as to just who may have had an agenda??
Just another's thoughts
BTW-- it was Levi Dyer's DUI that took 4 months for the press or the university to make mention of, and even then, kinda only because of the legal dispostion being reported on a message board.
then Sampay's way also reported and discussed first on a message board before the press discussed, and then the school confirmed it only after both the boards and the press began asking questions.
In the end, neither missed a game, a practuice, a workout, or anything.
And one starter on another instate MVC school actually played in a tournament game last year,
the very day he was in court for underage drinking..and never missed a game any time at all.
Lastly--

BUB05-- Haussler still stands behind the Markin Center...so they are talking about Haussler not Markin.
The problem is no one knows the intent of TB at Macy's (or if it was even true that he was there)... and no one knows the intent of the other guy being at the soccer game or the frat party...
TB may have been shopping... or he may have been there to intimidate this guy...
The guy may have been at the BU soccer game to hang out with friends or see a friend play in the game... or he may have been there to confront TB.
The guy may have been at the frat party with friends that he has at BU or in that specific frat... or he may have been there because he wanted to confront TB.
TB may have been at the frat party with friends... or he may have been there because he heard this other guy was going to be there.
My main point is NO ONE KNOWS FORSURE... and the intent of any of this will probably never be known...

However, I could not believe this was the lead story on the pjs website last night.....a "fight" that took place five days ago?
Same old pjs if you ask me!???People say, ???Forget last year', but I want our guys to remember that one, because that will not happen again. We will be much better.??? Geno Ford, 9/22/12

I follow you Nacho, so why make this such a big deal then? Can you explain to me then why the PJS is putting this on their sporting front page?
I'll tell you. Sensationalism and you and a few other are trying to sensationalize this to being more then what it is. My question is why if the facts that are out there point to a misdemeanor!"Educate and inform the whole mass of the people...they are the only sure reliance for the preservation of our liberty."

Now if all the charges are dropped and this is just some jerk kid trying to get an athlete in trouble, and the PJS doesn't print an updated story about it, I would have a problem with it... The PJS is a newspaper that prints stories that they feel are relevant to the community that is services...

With newspapers struggling right now, the updated webiste information seems to be the way most are going...
I just checked and it is still on the front page but has been bumped down by the stories that have been added since then... and it appears it will be off the front page once one more story is added... Not trying to split hairs here... I promise

sounds weird
You know what sounds weird to me on this? If the 'victim' is completely innocent, as it is being spun, then why did he come over to Haussler Hall (which is a private athletic department building) on a Saturday night? He's an ICC student, he had no reason to be there unless he was looking for Taylor...the whole thing sounds weird to me.

Ruffin.......Wilson....the star transport issue.....I'm tired of this stuff. Again MY point is it happens everywhere and its old at ALL those places. Its a reflection of society. A rise in crime or maybe more noticed in this day of the electronic media...I duuno.
It just gets old.....

For whatever reason, incidents like this at BU lead to far more scrutiny and hysteria than they do at any other school, but thisone is a minor issue.
TB recognizes that he made a decision that put him in a position to cause embarrassment for his school. He is a really bright and intelligent kid, and he knows he made a mistake. He issued a statement that reflects his remorse about what happened, and I believe that those are his actual words, not a press release written for him like what happens at most schools.
His coaches, his AD, and the President of the University have all heard both sides of this incident and are satisfied with TB's apology and don't feel this is anything like other incidents that have been brought up.
NOT to speak for Nacho but I highly doubt he's comparing the two incidents in terms of severity. He IS making a good point though. If you or I do it....meh...if its done by a celeb in this world that, for some reason, places these people on pedestals, its front page news.
Right...wrong...you decide but it is the way of society today.

It happens everywhere.
Ruffin was 2 years ago, was way overblown, and the case has been expunged.
Wilson was a lousy speeding ticket.
Star Transport was 2005 (4 years ago), and involved a clerical mistake and was not the fault of the players or coaches.
I think it is a reach to try to make this a case of something recurrent or sinister. JL has run a clean program, and with good solid kids. I stand by my opinion that Bradley has far less of this stuff than most programs, it's just that the rare incident is blown up and exaggerated for years after it happens.
