  • PJ Star article- Taylor Brown

Taylor Brown had an unfortunate incident last weekend. It is just now being reported by the local news-

FWIW, I have heard a much different version of this story, but we'll see how this comes out.

I've always believed 2 things that can harm and maybe ruin a season...

          Injuries and 'Off-Court Issues'

Hmm. Well, it's a true sign of the times where charges are pressed after two college kids get in a fistfight. It used to be if someone had something to say to someone, you settle it outside and it's over and done with. No cops, no nothing. I guess that's not the case anymore. In a strange way, shouldn't we be happy that they fought with fists and not guns, and someone didn't seriously get hurt, shot, or killed? Oh well. I don't think of Taylor Brown any differently than I did before this happened. He didn't fail a drug test, pass out drunk in his car, or hit a girl. He punched a guy in the face who may have deserved it.

Also, it wouldn't be Bradley Basketball season without some sort of drama, now would it?

                BradleyBrave -

1st of all, your posts are ALWAYS brilliantly stated. Thanks.

2ndly (and why I only copied this part of your post), there is always some sort of drama. I prefer to see/hear it and be done with it. Some may like to glorify it to tear down the program and/or coach. To each his own - we all have our own "little agendas".

Sounds like TB learned a lesson, now I look for him to grow from his experience.

Yeah, tempers are going to flow from time to time but at least this wasn't a domestic incident and run ins with the PD isn't a routine daily thing like some teams we know LOL.

BB, I applaud you for this post. You are exactly right, most college who get in fistfights don't get arrested...this is a prime example of a wrong place/wrong time scenerio.

I hope TB grows from this and realizes the consequences of his actions will directly impact his playing time...and subsequently thinks a little harder before he acts.

Actually, I was relieved to see that this was a "he said - he said"; not nearly as troublesome as the alternative.

More details will eventually emerge, and from what I have heard, they are not all the same as the Journal Star is reporting.

Recall that these initial reports come entirely from the police forms that are filled in by cops who are in a hurry, and who get their information only from the person filing the complaint.

The last time a police incident occurred involving a BU player, Daniel Ruffin, recall that there were initial media reports that included phrases such as "use of hands and feet", "punched and kicked", and the famous "ligature marks on the vicitm's neck". Also recall that none of that was true, and that later we learned the complaintant in that case came looking for Daniel Ruffin to cause trouble, and threw a punch first.
In this case, I predict we will hear more about this incident, too.

Here is what Coach Les had to say on his Twitter page about this report as he is on his way to the Basketball Hall of Fame induction.-

                            Hey he was being "dissed".....sigh.

its EXACTLY why we should not cast stones at others (programs) for DUI's...speeding tickets...no valid drivers licsense's or anything else.

NO program is immune from this stuff and, quite frankly, BU has had MORE then thier fair share of this unacceptable type behavior.
