A couple bits about Drake in the press in Des Moines.

Apparently there is a rumor regarding te health of Dr. Tom Davis, and that he will step down and his son will coach this year.
Dr. Tom went public saying he is healthy and plans to coach this season.

Drake's season tickets are selling ahead of last year.
They are pursuing a vigorous campaign to sell more tickets this year.
Last season they sold about 2,000 season ticket, and so far this year the number is at 2,400. Drake drew the worst of any MVC team in 2005-2006, at 4,268 per home game.

Clayton Korver is cleared to play but he is not 100%.
Davis says his final three scholarships will go to the first three of six kids who are weighing options, that say "yes".

"We've got six (recruits), all better than what we've got, and we'll take three of them,'' Keno said. "Which three depends on who says yes first."

Tom Davis is 67 (born Dec. 3, 193
Lute Olson is 71 (born Sept. 22, 1934)

Joe Paterno is 79 (born Dec. 21, 1926)
From PJ Star sports expert Kirk Wessler in his Jan. 10, 2012 column following 8th loss in a row at Drake-
"Yes, the Braves are better than they were when the season started two months ago. By a light year or two, they??™re better."

And from the PJ Star 4/26/12, Dave Reynolds-
"Fields and Grier both appear to be difference makers. If Bradley continues to add the right players around them, happy days may be ahead for the Braves after a long dry spell."

All is not well for Bulldog fans.
As embarrassing as the basketball program has been, the football team is humiliating.
In the opening night of the new stadium, the Bulldogs were humbled.
          Almost happy I didn't go!

maybe your basketball team would be better if you didn;t have a football team. works for us.

The Lindy's preseason sports publication picks the 2006-2007 MVC finish this way:
                  1) Creighton
                  2) Wichita
                  3) SIU
                  4) MSU
                  5) UNI
                  6) Drake
                  7) UE
                  8`) BU
                  9) IlSU

I don't know if I agree about Evansville. They have 4 solid starters in Holzinger, Anslinger, Strickland, and Webster. They should do better this season than they have in the past few years.

The outcome of last night's football game should not come as a shock to anybody. When you have one team that gives 63 football scholarships playing a team that gives zero football scholarships, it doesn't figure to be a close game.

I'm not embarassed at all by Drake's performance, but I do question the wisdom of scheduling teams that give 60+ scholarships.
