    Agreed!

I was surprised, actually, to hear Sigma Chi was giving up it's historic house. Bradley has wanted their Real Estate for years. I think they are getting moved to an area where TEP is/was.

I also heard the Pi Phi's are getting moved to Frat Row area as well. And that the Panhellenic Council is gonna be moved to the Pi Phi house.

2-3,000 for games with certain teams esp.if they are out of town teams, but when it's Manual-Richwoods or Manual-Central in some recent years it's been 5-7,000.

The Fieldhouse two years ago was remodeled and room made for offices and weightlifting facilities on the north end, and 1,000 seats were removed. Some of the top seats on the south end are gone, too as they are never used.
I believe as it sits now, the Fieldhouse would max out at a little over 5,000.

so the new place might be great for the high school sectional games.

An article on the PJStar web site details a big, early contribution to get the fundraising going.
        An $8 million pledge.

Frankly, I don't see the point unless the basketball team is going to be included. For BU to continue on its climb to being a force in the Valley, I think that an on-campus arena is a must. The civic center is great, but on campus is the way to go. Saint Louis is actually building a great new facility to replace the Savvis center. Obviously, 4,500 is not going to be anywhere near large enough to seat fans at a basketball game.

Men's basketball is included with a state-of-the-art dedicated practice facility that is a separate part of the arena structure.

Obviously, the university may need to address the arena the men play in, but one thing that people need to remember is this is not just for athletics. This is a major development plan that will redefine and improve the campus through improvements structurally, increasing greenspace, and re-centering it.

Among the aspects of this plan aside from the arena, rec-plex, and parking are overdue renovations to Westlake Hall (announced before these other projects, but not yet begun), new Alumni Relations offices, relocating the two aforementioned Greek houses, housing expansion, and improvements to both engineering buildings.

There are future options that Bradley and the City of Peoria could work towards in regards to getting into a 15K arena. But that is neither here nor there at this time, and these other things are essential to allowing the university to continue to grow and prosper. Sometimes you need to clean the palate before creating your masterpiece.

If Bradley can not meet its academic needs or the needs of its students first, it simply can not succeed. That is why the U. is taking this approach to expand.

And it is the right approach IMO, despite what some may say.

                in spite of

                Just kidding around.

                I agree.

But I am not so sure I like the idea of the large windows to view the pool from the outside. Or should I say, I wouldn't swim in a pool where I could be viewed so easily and openly. And believe me... you wouldn't want to view me swimming. What were they thinking?

                  I realize this is a basketball forum.....but....
I've heard with the new arena comes a pool.....does this mean BU's swimming and diving teams will make a comeback? I'm still and high school and am eyeballing a couple of offers. A chance to come to BU to swim would be great.

I doubt they will resurrect the swimming and diving programs. But stranger things have happened. There are a lot of complexities, like Title IX that is the main reason those programs were cut.

Yeah, I agree, unlikely. But I believe BU is free from title IX as they are a private institution (Trying my best not to sound like a know it all). I think Kavanaugh axed the team due shortages in facilities and funding necessary to being competitive in the MVC. The MVC men have evaporated and now the 3 MVC schools with teams compete in the Sun Belt. IF alumni would step up, I think it could happen. When I lived in Morton, my neighbor was on the team when it got shut down.
