I don't see anything wrong with teams scheduling in a way that optimizes their Tournament potential. BCS schools aren't refusing recipricol scheduling with non-BCS programs out of spite. On the whole, non-BCS programs do not perform well enough to make it worthwhile. A handful of programs not in the big football conferences have been able to build favorable schedules by consistently staying in the Top 25.

Whatever happened to scheduling games against good teams so your fans have at least a decent game to watch, when I was playing sports I always looked forward to playing against the best teams because it made winning feel more like an accomplishment then it did when you played against teams you knew had no chance of beating your team.

I know Butler backed out, but I don't know why they were able to keep that game around.
We are getting really good at getting good solid road chances in the non-con. Those are true resume builders.
However, as good as that part is, we gotta get something better than those 3 plus Loyola at Carver. I really hope there's something in the pipeline.

Spot on, TAS.
The 2009-10 home schedule so far for BU looks like a string of exhibition games. BU will need to get better pre season home games, or, win big consistently in the conference for season ticket holders to continue to pay the higher ticket prices and matching university donations BU implemented...BUilding for the Future

BYU, Oklahoma State, Illinois, Utah, Iowa State..
exactly what does BU need to do to satisfy you?
of the eight known non-conference games, HALF are from conferences of equal or greater power and ranking than the MVC.

That is unfair to AzBU fan to parse his sentence- I believe he said the HOME non-con was like a string of exhibitions....???We all want Bradley to win. If our methods and visions for that are different, then so be it. Don't ever attempt to tell me I am not a fan!???

ok...sorry I jumped to conclusions...but as we have discussed, it's next to impossible to get decent teams to come play in Peoria, but we'll see how it goes..
some MWC team will be in Peoria next year, and if we do well this season, it could be UNLV or New Mexico

I echo AZBufan's sentiments. There isn't one attractive home opponent on the schedule, not even one that is halfway interesting and if the other two haven't been announced, I can almost guarantee you they will be at or below the current offerings. The only problem I have with the road/neutral schedule is the trap game in DeKalb after Vegas, which I consider an absolutely inexcusable decision on our interim AD's part. A team of NIU's caliber should only play us at CArver, and if that sounds elitist, so be it. 300ish RPIs season after season for the huskies grant me that perspective.

We all agree that the home schedule isn't great. We know that. We also know how ridiculously tough it is to schedule home games at all. Even Tom Izzo said in an interview after the game two years ago that he doesn't want to come back here. Not only can we play well, but the fans can make Carver roar... and its a tough place to play. Mid major (sorry for the label...) + tough home crowd = REALLY tough to schedule anyone decent.
Lets not get hung up on it. We're upset about one QUARTER of our schedule. The non-conference home portion. At least we have a great looking non-conference road schedule. If it starts happening more frequently, then I can see being upset.
If you're a season ticket holder and drop your tickets (too late?) because of one season of poor non-conference home games, then you're probably not all that dedicated. I know thats probably offensive to some, but come on...
