Recall the disaster last year....
several teams backed out and the Alaskan preseason "exempt" tournaments were hobbled and
some included D-II teams. ...and the "Top of the World Classic" went belly-up...and folded complately.
the mess continues....partly due to the economy and teams wanting to avoid costly long travel, partly due to the flourishing of mainland exempt tourneys like the Chicago Classic, Las Vegas Tourney, and even the low caliber exempt on-campus tourneys being held like the ones at MSU and ISU the past few years.
The Great Alaska Shootout, once a really premier early season tourney, is on the verge of collapse...
they can only get six teams this year!
and somewhere, someone claims that scheduling is easy....
