Bradley AD search work in progress

Bradley president Joanne Glasser has not set a timetable for making that decision, nor does she feel an urgency to do so. Indications are the high-energy president is pleased with the job House-Browning is doing.
Satisfied that the department is in good hands, at least in the short run, Glasser appears on a deliberative tack. She is passionate about athletics, and she is remarkably well connected. Multiple sources say she has been working those connections, consulting with administrators around the nation about this job.
So frankly, I don’t mind if it takes some time to find the right man or woman for the job

I am fine with finding the right person as well. However, I worry that having 5 AD's in 6 years at EKU may scare some people off.

"Mary Lou Janssen was promoted to assistant A.D. for external affairs"
"Two more recent resignations, though, leave VHB looking for a new compliance director and an assistant trainer"
"House-Browning will continue to wear two hats; not replacing herself as executive athletics director ??” the No. 2 position in the department ??” as long as she remains ???interim.???"
"House-Browning says, being an athletics director ???has always been part of my goal."
"When President Glasser asked me if I would consider being the interim director, she made no promises, but she gave every indication that if I wanted to throw my hat in to be considered (for the permanent position), I would certainly have that chance."

so, with the acting AD and the assistant AD now in place for the time being...
I will go one step further and predict that the two top spots in the athletic dept. are going to be held by women for years to come...

At today's university conference, President Glasser mentioned that BU will conduct a national search for a new AD in the near future. She did not state anything about who would be on an AD search committee or how the process would be done.

BU enlists Atlanta firm for AD search
It is preferred that all nominations and applications be submitted to the firm by Nov. 12.

As long as we get the right person in a timely manner. I really do not care if it takes a few months at this time. I just hope though that the hire comes in before other teams start filling in their schedule for basketball.

Two things I want from BU - That we keep our academic integrity intact regardless and that the basketball program and the other major sport programs continue to grow in the right direction. I would be greatly upset if anything like what happened at KU happened on the hilltop even if we were poised to be number 1 out of the gates.

My main question that I have at this point is why has it taken this long to get to this stage of the process?
                  Bradley 72 - Illini 68 Final

???It??™s awful hard,??™??™ said Illini freshman guard D.J. Richardson, the former Central High School guard who played prep school ball a few miles from here and fought back tears outside the locker room. ???It??™s a hometown thing. It??™s bragging rights.??™

Very odd that PJstar says BU has enlisted a search firm for the AD when BU has not yet listed the position on its web site: http://www.bradley.edu/humanresource...strative.shtml

BU has ALWAYS lists open positions here. As of this time of this posting, note the open position for Provost, the person who will oversee academics. There is a search firm looking for the Provost along with the listing on the BU web site.

If Glasser follows what BU usually does, the AD job should be listed on the employment opportunities web site even if a search firm has been employed.

In all fairness, paying a search firm when hiring for a top position is pretty routine and assured you a little bit against charges of nepotism or "the fix is in" as happened somewhere in BU's past..although I can't recall.

But the candidates who are found would be brought to Peoria and interviewed on campus, so the ultimate decision will be in the president's hands.
I kinda feel that this approach lessen;s VHB's chances should she want the top spot....
I would be happy if we hired VHB as AD.

I'm not sure why the process is taking so long either. Obviously you would rather make sure to take your time to get the right person but at the same time if somebody can do both jobs for very long, do you really need both positions?..Glasser may have a goal for when she wants to have an AD in place but it doesn't seem like it. I would think this could bother all the coaches within the program. If she thinks Virnette can do the job lets get the process really started. I can't tell if Virnette has thrown her hat in yet or waiting to see who else's hat is in there...I don't care if there is a committee either...the last one was a debacle. Let the Prez hire someone.
Let's move on and get things in place....I wouldn't have a problem if it's Virnette but by waiting I doubt she is going to take many chances in going forward in the athletics program for fear if something doesn't workout will hurt her chances for the position....sorry for the long post. I'm taking a few days off and I have time on my hands
