  • Dwight Buycks - BU 2007 recruit to visit Bradley this month

Dwight Buycks from Milwaukee Bay View high school is a class of 2007 6'2" point guard that has been reportedly been offered a scholarship by Bradley.

Here is a link to a topic on the Recruiting board where he was profiled--

There is a new article Friday on wishoops.net, a Wisconsin prep hoops site about Buycks.

The article will probably not be accessable without a password. But here is a synopsis of what it reports--
    >Dwight Buycks is a 6'2" point guard from Milwaukee Bay View high school who is getting more interest from Divsion I schools by the day.
    >He has scholarship offers from Bradley University and UW-Green Bay, along with interest from Creighton, Holy Cross, Iowa State, Loyola of Chicago and Washington State.
    >In recent weeks, Buycks says Memphis and Connecticut have also been in contact.
    >Buycks plans to take an unofficial visit to Bradley later this month.
    >He might wait until the fall signing period to decide.
    >He is ranked No. 7 among players in the state in the class of 2007 by Wishoops.net .

The article also mentions that former Bradley recruit, James Haarsma from Racine St. Catherine's, now does not have Bradley on his list of considerations.
Canisius, Denver and Gardner Webb have joined Army, Montana State and Northwestern in expressing interest in the 6-6 forward ranked No. 10 among class of 2007 players in the state by Wishoops.net. Haarsma plans to visit Montana State next month.

Not sure why BU is offering to another pg, but it does sound like trying to get the best player available.

I suspect the offer was made before the Jeremy Fears decision. I also doubt JL would want another combo guard. He sounds like he could be a good one, but I don't expect to see him at BU.
From PJ Star sports expert Kirk Wessler in his Jan. 10, 2012 column following 8th loss in a row at Drake-
"Yes, the Braves are better than they were when the season started two months ago. By a light year or two, they??™re better."

And from the PJ Star 4/26/12, Dave Reynolds-
"Fields and Grier both appear to be difference makers. If Bradley continues to add the right players around them, happy days may be ahead for the Braves after a long dry spell."

There's a brand new article this morning on Dwight Buycks on Rivals.

        He says,
"Right now, the highest schools on my list or Memphis and Bradley," said Buycks. "In the next two weeks, I am going to visit Bradley...
Connecticut is showing interest right now," he said. "I would like to take a trip to UCONN if I can, but I just don't know about that yet. I will take an official visit to Iowa State. Wisconsin-Green Bay, Baylor and Illinois are some schools recruiting me pretty hard.

"Bradley has been up to the gym to watch me practice," he added...."

Buycks is a senior at Milwaukee (WI) Bayview, so it sounds like he will not be signing in the Nov.8-15 period.

Just my opinion, but Bradley needs a juco big man for next year with the last remaining scholarship. BU is thin on the frontline right now and Zach Andrews will be graduating. If Bradley is to have the year that many of us expect in '07-'08, they need more that Sam Singh, Matt Salley and some freshmen down low.

I guess there is always the possibility that a scholarship will unexpectedly open up.

Any thought that BU may be recruiting a guard because one of the guard they're counting on next year may not be there? I don't know anything in particular, but there is a chance that -

            1.) Ruffin doesn't get that 4th year
2.) Williams doesn't get enough hours

I too think we need another immediate-impact big man, but I trust the staff on this one.
