  • Video of Taylor Brown's tip in

Reminds me of how TB played last season. Wasn't the tallest player but he always found the right spot on the floor for the rebounds & tip ins. Or you could say that he has a knack for the ball. He should be fine as a starter this season.

      Really nice tip in, but:

      1. The guy who was guarding SM could do a worse job. That is the history about most of brazilian players: they have the offensive talent, but use to be terrible one on one defenders.

      2. Although there was the imbalance caused by SM, that undersized guy next to TB did a TERRIBLE job boxing him out. If he just did a decent job, TB would not be able to reach the ball.

      3. The most bizarre thing came from Bobby Parker text: "he made both free throws to get the Braves within 83-82. Araraquara then tried to make a long inbounds pass with 24 seconds left, but Brown intercepted the pass in the Bradley backcourt to set up the final possession". Lol. Why exactly does someone try a risky long inbound pass with a 1 point advantage plus 24 seconds in the clock?

It??s so frustrating notice that brazilians teams make so many basic mistakes of fundamentals of basketball. I hope they at least take some lessons...

It's cool to see the video of the game winner.

It's great that they are getting good competition. I was guessing most of the games would be blowouts one way or the other.

The defense on SM was poor, allowing him to penetrate and get off a good shot, though he missed. However, with the international rules allowing players to touch the ball as soon as it hits the rim, why wasn't a defender stationed under the basket to swat away any rebound?
The rebound tip by TB was made possible by his defender leaving him to defend Sam's shot after he got past his defender. That happens all the time on last-second plays, because you have to prevent the basket, and you tend to think there won't be enough time for a rebound and putback.

Looks like TB was just drifting on the right wing...his player left him as soon as SM started his drive allthough you can't see how close he ever was to TB.

It was nice to see BOTH TB and what appeared to be CR go right to the basket when SM started to elevate for the shot. Nose for the ball and a sure sign of understanding what needed to be done.

We needed EM and whomever else was on the court to go to the rim also.....EM was backing up which did no good and the other guy on the left was also a spectator.

One player from the the defense on the right side had the opp to block out TB but didn't....CR got caught up in three players and got knocked back up a bit.

Check that....EM delivered the ball to SM then went to the left corner....maybe waiting for a kickout. It was DD that was the spectator backing up a raising his hands after TB's tip.

DD needs to attack the rim also.

BAd D or just a good move by SM .....he did a great stutter step to the right then a quick crossover to the left blowing by his guy as he went hard back to the right to the rim. One player on his left did the ole matador swipe at the ball but to no avail.

I was hoping sammy worked on his layups over the summer but I guess he didn't.

I maintain that Taylor Brown will end up as a better, more effective version of Bobby Ford, who also had the same knack of always being in the right place at the right time even though he was much shorter than most forwards of his day.

Because Sam missed a drifting runner means he hasn't worked on his layups...

The EPTV video reports shows some awesome TB dunks, and some nice EM passing...
JL also looks like he's growing a goatee...

It appears they let a lot of travelling calls go.

Hey-hey - I remember Bobby Ford and liked him.

I've said this to some friends of mine (and maybe on this board before).... As much as I LOVED Theron Wilson and LOVED watching him play and will miss him... I will not miss an undersized player at the 4 spot.... as I look forward to watching Taylor Brown fill that spot.

IMO, he had a nice Freshman season, playing behind a rock-solid player (in TW). He played some, (hopefully) learned a lot... now he gets to show us what he's got. Yea... he's gonna have some lumps and learn from them... but he'll only be a Soph. Learning will be good this year along with some great contributions.

I look forward to watching him play!

I liked Bobby Ford as well, but Ford had almost no arch to his shot.

???It??™s awful hard,??™??™ said Illini freshman guard D.J. Richardson, the former Central High School guard who played prep school ball a few miles from here and fought back tears outside the locker room. ???It??™s a hometown thing. It??™s bragging rights.??™
