btw--- I'll share....I got an e mail from Coach ABIII today who expressed his gratitude that so many BU fans back in the US some 5000 miles away are such faithful fans and are following the team's every move........his statements are that the team and players are really appreciative and spurred on by that! -
Outstanding news indeed. 82 points and 83 points in 2 games. Even though it was with a little less shot clock but also without some key rookie players that will get a lot of time. Lets see how they do the next 3 days here.

Wow...either the competition isn't as good as expected....or BU is really turning it on, even without AW or the potential impact frosh. I'd like to think and hope it is the latter.
From everything that is being posted on here, we aren't exactly playing cupcake teams so this could be a very encouraging sign. Looking forward to stats being available to see if our 3-pt shooting is back on track after a poor performance in the first game.#DunkOnYouComment

As was reported in a different thread, the top player for Bauru, an American named Larry Taylor, reportedly was not available to play because of visa issues.-
By the way- as everyone here knows, Bradley was also without perhaps their best player, Andrew Warren.Comment

While I'm happy and excited like all I don't think the scores are whats really importaint. Besides what good does it do if you kick everybody's butt?
I'd be happy with close wins and or loses IF JL is achieving his objectives AND if we get out of SA healthy.
Don't get me wrong....not trying to be a Debbie Downer I'm just not going to get too excited when we really don't know the competition.

agree dogs...but still, these are still professional teams filled with seasoned players who are 26-30 years old, and they are not a bunch of 16 year olds from Belgium or the Australian Outback like some D-I teams have been playing on their tours.
I still think this gives the coach and players exactly what they want, a chance to try new things and work out what needs to be corrected.Comment

I know some will argue that and make valid points.......I'm just not going to treat this like I would Non-con or certainly regular season wins.

I??m really impressed with this result, even considering that Bauru was without Larry Taylor (not only Bauru??s best player, but also 50% of that team).

S??O CARLOS, Brazil - Bradley sophomore forward Taylor Brown led five teammates in double-figures with 21 points and added seven rebounds and four blocked shots, helping the Braves rally from a seven-point, first-quarter deficit en route to an 83-58 victory versus Bauru in the opening round of the COPA EPTV Basketball Tournament Wednesday night at Gimn??sio Milton Olaio Filho.
According to the unofficial statistics kept by Bradley Associate Athletic Director Bobby Parker, senior swingman Chris Roberts drained four 3-pointers as part of his 14-point effort. Senior guard Dodie Dunson chipped in with 13 points, junior guard Sam Maniscalco added 12 points and sophomore center Anthony Thompson pumped in 10 points an pullded down a team-high eight rebounds. Sophomore point guard Eddren McCain contributed a solid all-around game with eight points, five rebounds, eight assists and three steals.
It appeared the combination of four days in Rio de Janeiro, a 9-hour bus ride to S??o Carlos Tuesday, a depleted front court and a matchup against the top team from the Brazilian National League competing in the 8-team tournament all would work against the Braves at the outset.
Bauru led 19-12 at the end of the first quarter as the Braves suffered six turnovers in the first 10 minutes. Starters Brown and Roberts also suffered two personal fouls each in the opening 10 minutes, putting an additional strain on the Bradley frontcourt, which opened the game with both centers Sam Singh and Will Egolf as questionable due to health reasons.
Singh suffered through an overnight bout of food poisoning and Tuesday's long bus ride from Rio de Janeiro caused stiffness in Egolf's surgically-repaired left knee. Singh played sparingly in short bursts and Egolf did not play. Rather than taking advantage of Bradley's depleted frontcourt, however, Bauru built its 7-point advantage by making 4-of-9 3-point attempts in the opening stanza.
Bradley turned up the defensive pressure to start the second quarter and took advantage of back-to-back steals on Bauru's first two possessions to score the period's first four points. After allowing Bauru to stretch its lead to 31-23, however, the Braves scored the next eight points on two free throws by Singh and consecutive 3-pointers by Roberts. A Thompson putback basket gave Bradley its first lead of the game, 35-34, but Bauru answered with a 3-pointer and took a 37-35 lead into halftime.
With the score tied at 50-50, Dunson scored five straight points to start a 10-2 Bradley volley to end the third quarter, giving the Braves a 60-52 lead heading into the final period.
From there the Braves stepped on the gas and dominated the fourth quarter. Senior forward Ryan Phillips started the game-clinching surge with a steal that set up one Singh free throw. Phillips then snuck in to grab the offensive rebound when Singh missed the second attempt and found Maniscalco for a 3-pointer that gave Bradley its first double-digit lead, 64-52. After a pair of Bauru free throws trimmed the lead to 64-54, Bradley blew the game open with a 19-1 outburst.
Bradley will face Araraquara in the second round of pool play Thursday at 6 p.m. (CT). Araraquara finished 12th in the 2008-09 Brazil National League standings and opened the tournament Wednesday by defeating Paulistano, 58-51, in the game preceding Bradley's.
Notes: Gimn??sio Milton Olaio Filho will likely be the loudest arena where the Bradley Basketball team will ever play a game ... The arena seats approximately 8,000 and every seat is made of concrete: accommodating about 7,000 on solid concrete bleachers in the upper bowl and the remaining 1,000 with concrete chairs in the lower bowl ... In addition, the majority of the roof is constructed of metal and there are no sound absorption materials anywhere in view ... Although the court is brand new, the shot clocks on top of the backboards are not working and the rim on the home end of the floor is noticeably bent toward the front ... Cesar, our guide for the trip, located someone in the crowd who notified the Bradley coaches from the scorer's table when the shot clock reached 10 seconds and the amount of time left after each deadball ... Bradley committed only one shot-clock violation in the game ... In another clock oddity, the game clock counted up, sporadically, instead of down, and the officials whistled the end of each 10-minute quarter.Comment
