Im not downplaying the role of AD right now but the program has a lot of capable people willing to run their own "ships". All the AD needs to do is oversee that and I'm sure that is getting done.

Jim DeRose doesn't need a lot of direction. Jim Les doesn't need a lot of direction. The SID staff doesn't need a lot of direction. Etc, etc. Just let those coaches/people run their own departments the best they can. No need to have a micromanager there.
Exactly. Things are fine. Except for the sky falling

At any rate, I think either a decision has been made and we're just waiting on an announcement, or we're going to do a full national search and hope to wow them with the new athletics building when it's complete.

I am way away from this entire ordeal but there is no way, no how, it can or should or does take over 4 months to put together a search or a committee.

I sincerely believe she is either waiting for the AD at EKU to have his contract expire there or she has someone else who she wants but must wait for their situation to clear. A small % of me is thinking she is wanting to see how Virnette does as interim before Glasser decides to make her the perminate AD.

But as she did with the baseball coach hire you can guarantee she is the only and absolute decision maker regarding who the AD will be.

Ha friend, help me out here. Are you saying the BU's AD position isn't that appealing in itself, that it will take a new office and athletic building for BU to land a good qualified AD They can't see what's being built or read a blue print? Also BU being a mid-major in the MVC and BU athletics with all it's tradition and success cannot stand on center stage I always have been under the impression that it was the potential employee who had to do the impressing I know things have changed but that was the way it was when I applied for a position or when I hired employee's?
The long wait to start a search and the building thing, WELL, it, it,it just seems upside down

I am not satisfied with going to the third and fourth tier postseason.
I was under the impression the basketball and baseball programs are both on the upswing and expected to produce very good products. Just curious as to how many days of "lethal injection" it will take to "kill" Bradley University? I guess I'll be surprised when that day occurs.

From what I have heard, there hasn't been any advertising for the AD position, yet. But I have heard they have already received inquiries and even applications and CV's from interested parties. And some are highly respected, qualified, and well known individuals.

So from that I think I can deduce that the Bradley AD job is a very desirable one, and will draw some outstanding applicants.

Not at all what I am saying.

I get that people don't see it the way I do, and that's fine.

Two problems have traditionally plagued positions in the BU ath. dept. over the years: funding and facilities.

I believe a good number of things under both umbrellas have been addressed.

I just feel that it is entirely within the realm of possibility that BU can overachieve with this search. We are making sure we can both impress and secure the big hire. That could require spending more money and being able to tangibly "feel" the new facilities. That is my reason for optimism.

A piece of paper while standing in the mud, while it shows great vision, doesn't set a very good impression. JMO.

It's not a slight at Bradley at all. It is commendation in hopes that is how they are proceeding.

That's fine. As I said, I get that I'm in the minority.

I just happen to feel that I believe BU is positioning itself here to put together a compensation package that will cause none to balk, or perhaps even lure someone in that otherwise would have no reason to be interested.

I hope you're right. If they are planning to go 'bigger and better' than they have before, then I am all for it. Unfortunately I have seen nothing to support that. BU has no obligation to keep people like me in the loop, but every once in a while it would be nice.
