Player Outlook: Chris Roberts

From the limited reports I have heard about the play of the Bradley players in summer scrimmages and practices, I've heard the most improved player is Chris. His outside shooting has improved, and he's likely to play more of the go-to role that Theron Wilson played last year, though Chris is very much a team-player. I think we'll also see his get the defensive assignments against some of the top players on other teams like Osiris Eldridge, P'Allen Stinnett, Josh Young, maybe Jake Kelly, and others.

Chris Roberts' athleticism is completely unmatched in the Valley.
Maybe the only guys close would be P'Allen and King O, but Chris can outjump either with his amazing jumping ability.
I, too, have heard that Chris has evolved gradually in the off season into a more mature player, looking to fill his role as both team leader and go-to guy, from just a freak athlete that can bank in 70-footers.
If Chris can handle the ball and put it on the floor a bit better than Theron (and I believe he can) then Chris can take anyone one-on-one and give BU a superb weapon against the man-to-man.
Chris knows that his lifelong plan to play pro ball, depends a little on the development of some outside shooting and ballhandling, and there's no better mentor than an ex-NBA point guard who was a lights out shooter!

I've always felt that Roberts is this year's wildcard; he could potentially be a break-out player. Remember, Juco players under the Les regime usually excel and outperform in their senior season.
I'm hoping Roberts has improved (as our "in-the-know" posters have indicated) and becomes an All-MVC player this year.

I agree with all of this, but where are his minutes coming from? With AW and WE back, there won't be as many 4-guard lineups this year. If EM, SM and DD all average 20+ minutes, and AW is healthy enough to play 25-30 minutes, where does that leave CR?
This is a good problem to have, but it's still a problem.Don't putt until the cup stops movin'

He may be the difference maker between a 4th place finish and challenging for the title."Educate and inform the whole mass of the people...they are the only sure reliance for the preservation of our liberty."

It's Jim Les...if you are thinking we won't have a 4 guard line up the majority of the time then you are probably wrong. I would like a more traditional line up but it probably won't happen. If CR is getting better who cares about his minutes...he'll get them if he deserves them and they'll come from the person that isn't doing as well...simple as that. It should come from EM and maybe TB/DD...the mix of those 3. I see DD being more of an off the bench player than CR and I definitely don't think EM should be starting over SM...as well as playing at the same time as him. Whoever is playing the best will play.
