  • Recruiting Report - Illinois Wolves

as most of you know, Sam Maniscalco's dad, Carl, is coaching the younger Illinois Wolves players...
I found a couple of reports on how they are doing...and it's quite interesting...

"The Illinois Wolves 15U squad may not be at the level of their 16 and under team, but they are very solid.
Big man Jay Simpson, a Champaign Central 2012 prospect, anchors the middle and definitely had the body at 6-foot-8
and thick, but now he seems to be adding some more to his game.
Jacobby Roddy is a 6-foot-4 athlete that grabbed 12 rebounds and has a big time motor. The guards can play a bit too.
Jordan Foster and Landis Farmer controlled the action on the perimeter, and got a little help from 2013 guard Marcus Fair.
Farmer is a Peoria Manual guard that is extremely quick on both ends

The 16U Wolves were also good
Chasson Randle and Jacob Williams were outstanding,
Antonio Drummond was not expected to be in attendance, but he was able to make it for this game before heading home
    to attend his grandmother's funeral.
Big man Nnana Egwu struggled on this day, and really never got in sync.

Chasson Randle wants to make a decision after his junior year.
Former Illinois Wolves and Southern Illinois star Bryan Mullins is now playing with the Chicago Bulls Summer League team
The Peoria Irish won by 42 and 29 points on their two games on Thursday. They are hoping for more competition on Friday.
Eastern Illinois recently had Decatur's Jarrod Oldham down for a visit and also like Rayvonte Rice quite a bit.
The biggest drama on Friday may be the Schmidt brothers. Will they attend the event? Will Chicago Hoops Brian Stinnette let them in?

The Illinois Wolves 17U team is expected to have a 7 footer from Belgium playing with them this month."

Here's an interesting recruiting report....with all the powerful AAU teams getting 99% of the press...guess who quietly sneaked up and won 3 of the four divisions at the Kentucky Hoopfest?

A team named Team Takeover-Canada....a team full of Canadian kids who love basketball, play it pretty well, and yet nobody has ever heard of them.

In the 14U division...Team Takeover led by unheralded Canadian kids Aaron Emanuel, Tevin Findlay, and Jason Hatcher beat a Louisville based AAU team.

In the 15U division...Spiece Indy Stars beat a Wisconsin AAU team with
Jeremy Hollowell leading the Stars with 21 points, Ron Patterson had 19 & Rhett Smith 16.

In the 16U division...Team Takeover-Canada beat the Indiana Elite (Justin Gant's team) & Grandy Glaze was TT-C's top scorer for the Canadians with 20.
The Canadians lost last in Ohio to Indy Elite.

In 17U Team Takeover beat Shining Stars, Kadeem Green the leading scorer with 13. Taevaunn Price and Ashton Kahn each had 12...and all this talent coming out of Canada is going to cause an increase in recruitnig budgets for a few schools!
