Brandon Hawkins, the oldest son of BU great Hersey Hawkins, has left University of Pacific, and has transferred to Fresno City College. FCC has been perhaps the top junior college team in the California junior college system over the past decade. They were ranked #1 for much of last season, ran their record to 34-0 before getting upset in the postseason state juco tournament and finishing 34-1 last year. They have won their conference championship the last 8 years in a row, and they won the state title in 2005 and in 2007. Link
Brandon Hawkins, who was a high-scoring guard in high school in Arizona and received some recruiting inerest from Bradley, was a freshman at Pacific last year. He played very little, and was not with the team late in the season, and he did not make the trip to Peoria when Pacific played at Bradley in the CollegeInsider.com Tournament.
This transfer to Fresno City College will make him eligible to be recruited again for the class of 2010. Fresno plays a wide-open offense and frequently scores in triple digits, including wins last year of 120-70 (over Compton CC), 115-58 (over Columbia College), and 113-112 (over LA City College). They averaged about 90 ppg last season, so Brandon should get a chance to score some points.
