Tim Robinson joined the BU varsity as a sophomore for the 1961 season.

After the season, Alphra Saunders (who was a senior) and Tim Robinson were dismissed from Bradley University and permanently banned from competitive sport in Illinois (after the 1951 point shaving scandal, the State of Illinois banned anybody linked to bribes, including failure to report rejected offers) for failing to report a refused bribe to Coach Orsborn.

In 1970 Robinson sued the NBA along with other players similarly "boycotted" by the league in connection with their roles in the 1961 scandals, undersigned.

If this came to light before the postseason, it's entirely possible player involvement in these matters are the real reason Bradley declined its NIT invite that year.

Storm - I do not think there is one BU fan on this board that does not wish NIU the best but the reason most of us are upset at having your team on our schedule is that your RPI will not help us one iota and by going on the road it has a chance of killing any NCAA hope. If NIU had an RPI in the top 150 I'd have zero complaints. Let's hope for allof our sakes that NIU is much better then we all think and that this game will be a good one to have had on our schedule come March.

          Tim Althof

Chico: You are 100% correct regarding Tim Robinson. I meant Tim Althof but I incorrectly typed Tim Robinson---Probably because we used to call Tim Althof "Tim The Rim" after Tim Robinson. Althof was a great young man from a wonderful family and a very good player who unfortunately passed away several years ago. I also believe Jim Les's brother Tom may have married Tim Althofs Sister. Thanks for the correction.

Understood, and can appreciate that. Who knows what our RPI will end up like (or yours for that matter.....). I'm hoping that you end up viewing the game not as a good one to have been scheduled - not because of our RPI but because we find a way to beat you in the Convo Center!

Who knows how things would turn out. If you had a high RPI team on your schedule instead and lost bad, would that be better or worse than beating NIU in Dekalb? Obviously playing well against a high RPI team is better, but nobody can know how things will play out. Things are what they are and the goal is to take care of business. I'm a believer that one game can possibly help a team a little, but can't hurt that bad. If BU takes care of business and is one of the top teams in the Mo Valley, and also is in the finals of the conf tourney then the NIU game won't matter much no matter what happens. If those things don't happen then NCAA tourney discussion and game vs. NIU maybe isn't an issue anyway. Out of curiosity: How many Mo Valley teams do you think will make the tourney this year?

I just like seeing the Illinois teams play each other when they can. Last year we had WIU (at a tourney), SIU, Loyola and Chicago State. This year we have Illinois, UIC, Chicago State and you guys on the schedule. Our coaches are working hard at building a good schedule for our program. I'm already looking forward to coming to Peoria to play in 2010-11.

Storm - all valid points! I believe the MVC should receive 2 bids this year but as you said one never knows how things will play out. There are IMHO 4 teams with the capability of making the Tourney with Northern Iowa as a runaway pick to win the Valley this year.

I'm pretty sure I originally used the word "could" as it definitely would've been a better or more appropriate word. It's also entirely possible my original comment was altered, as is standard practice on this internet forum. ....
As one of the mods, I can only speak for myself and I didn't alter your post. I personally have never edited a post.

Yes, I have heard some posts have been altered in the past but those were ones not following the guidelines everyone agrees to when signing up on this forum.

Anymore, (and prior to your claims regarding anything said in this thread) it is my understanding questionable posts (or posts not following the guidelines) just get deleted instead of edited. Nobody wants a lawsuit in their lap during the nit-pik and gotchya era. So, follow the guidelines or the post may be deleted. IMO, edited posts anymore are the ones that change the info to be more updated (like "Bradley Women vs Evansville".... changed to "Bradley Women beat Evansville").

The world and this forum isn't out to get squirrelgotdead or any other alias by you or your friends.

Making a "drive-by" shooting on how this forum is run borders on deletion, IMO, but I am fine with letting it go.

Go Bradley. Good luck to NIU except against Bradley.

I like the fact BU will be playing at NIU as it gives me another opportunity to attend another Bradley game on the road, let"s win the Tournament this year so we don"t have to worry about our rpi so much as it doesn"t count as much as everyone believes it does or Missouri St. would still have Barry coaching their team.

I hate to say it does count but it doesn't count when it should help you!
