Next Year's Team and Minutes

Here's how I see everything shaking out for BU this year. Just an early prediction but, like the upcoming team at ISU, I've seen every player on this squad at some point in their career and have gotten updates from people that see all the players on a regular.

The starting guards I see to be Eddren and Sam Maniscalco with Dodie providing big minutes off the bench with Eastman playing a bit as well. Personally I believe Dunson is the best guard but, with the way things went last year, I see JL going with EM and SM to build his backcourt chemistry for the next couple years.

On the wing, Andrew Warren will be the starter with Roberts seeing a ton of minutes as well. Dunson will also be a backup at the 3 spot.

I see Taylor Brown starting at the '4' spot with Roberts backing him up here along with Milos being right behind him and Prosser seeing a few minutes. I think it will take JP a while to adjust to the college level.

Will Egolf will be the man in the middle while Sam Singh provides about the same amount of minutes he did last season or maybe just a little bit less. AT will get more minutes than last year but I still don't see him being a big factor.

I predict Dyricus to redshirt.

Thanks scout....just wondering why you think Prosser will need time to adjust but not Milos. I think ALL freshman need SOME adjustment time...some more then others.

I think the Roberts/TB thing can go either way.

I don't think Prosser will be ready physically whereas Milos has a much more developed body. He's much stronger than JP right now and, to this point, has played against much stronger and more athletic players at his size. Jordan may be more skilled but he isn't used to playing against players his size, especially those who are stronger and more athletic than him. After building his body strength up I think he will need to prepare himself mentally as well for the contact he will receive inside at the Division I level. I've seen Milos play a few times now and, per reports, he has gotten even stronger since the last time I saw him.

By the way, just to put it out there---the last time I saw Milos was July before his senior year and he didn't look anywhere near 6'8" to me. I have some friends on the west coast who saw him play a few times this year and they've told me he is on the taller side of 6'6", smaller side of 6'7", around Taylor height and from what I saw I'd have to agree.

I see Prosser ahead of Milos.. To me Prosser is much more of a known quantity being local. I know that doesn't mean anything but if I had to guess my money is on Prosser. Could just be the local bias but from what I have heard about Prosser he has all the tools and the work ethic to come in and contribute. Although I think it might take until about mid-season to late season before we see more than just a few minutes here and there..

I also see Prosser as more of an inside presence where Milos is more of a shooter and not someone to mix it up. In my opinion we need a Prosser type a bit more in the line-up than a Milos.... That being said I think both will be GREAT additions.

I think Milos is going to be a Will Egolf type as far as contribution in his first season. He has plenty of potential but being away from home and adjusting to this level it will take a little more time for him to gain confidence. This is not a knock to Milos just typical Freshman adjustments.

Both Jordan and Milos will need to remain positive through the many ups and downs...

Interesting depth chart Scout... I have a couple of comments/questions for people on the board for a hot and humid central Illinois day... and aside from Prosser, and DSE, I haven't seen any of the incoming freshmen.

C- Why not put JP ahead of AT? Especially for MVC playing time.

SF- Does anyone think that Milos can play here thus making room for TB?

Nice to hear that JE may be able to contribute this year. Can JE contribute enough so we can use DD only at the PG and or SG positions?

Let's not even go there that CR will start over TB at the 4. TB is more of a 4 then CR and is a better rebounder. I'm not saying CR can't hit the boards! CR is best situated at the wing position and is more of a slashing offensive threat and coming from the weak side to pick up his offensive boards. TB has the ability to mix it up inside and is why he'll be our starting 4.

Defensively they both should be shooting through the passing lanes for steals but CR's speed and playing the 3 will allow him to take that risk a bit more then TB.

On JP and MK we'll all have to wait and see. I never seen either play so I'll not venture to who will be ready or not.

Minutes for the 2-3 position will be hotly contested with a healthy AW getting the nod for the majority of those minutes. I'd expect to see SM starting at the 2 but seeing JL substitute freely depending on who practiced well, match ups and who has the hot hand. If EM develops as a threat from the outside he'll be our starting point guard otherwise I'd expect to see SM there and possibly moving AW to the 2.

AW at the 2 is something I would like to see.

A lineup with SM, AW, JE, MK, and WE= No more opponents using a zone defense.

I think you maybe right If AW had not been injured, which pushed SM to the 2, I think we may of not seen much of EM last year. I like EM, but he is not the leader and player SM is. I know it was EM's first year and I thought he did a good job. When a game is on the line, your point guard must take over, make things happen (play's). He has to be able to shoot or get fouled and make the free throws, SM has shown he can do this where as EM lacks/needs to improve in both of these.

I like this line up:

SM - 1

AW and DD - 2-3 (DD for his defence as well as his OF)

WE and SS - 4-5 (SS's, big body will open things for WE)

Lots of Leadership, 3 point shooters, defence and two bigs

I've given you what I think will be the lineup but here is what I think would be the most affective lineup.

In my opinion Dodie Dunson, Chris Roberts, and Andrew Warren are the best players on the team followed by Sam Maniscalco and I believe if JL will allow DD and CR to play more on their athletic abilities we can be very successful.

I'd bring SM off the bench as a sparkplug scorer, put Sam Singh in the same role he played last season, and EM as a backup to SM and DD. I also wouldn't mind putting CR at the '4' some and moving DD or SM to the wing. Some say we may not have enough ball handling in that lineup but I've watched DD for years and he is a point guard in every since of the word when playing that position. If AW was healthy last season we would have seen it.
