Maybe this story got overshadowed a little by Jeff Jordan leaving the Illinois team, but Illinois State lost a guard yesterday, too.
Landon Shipley, who was a walk-on transfer from Austin Peay, announced he is leaving the Redbird basketball team. He says he will not transfer, but remain at ISU and finish his academics and graduate.
Shipley is a 6' guard who transferred to ISU from Austin Peay. He is from the St. Louis area. He played in 23 games last year, including starting 5 games at point guard when Lloyd Phillips left the team for a couple weeks. Shipley averaged 3.2 ppg and 1.0 apg. His leaving could leave the Redbirds a little short at point guard. He would have been the 4th leading returning scorer this fall behind Osiris Eldridge, Lloyd Phillips, and Dinma Odiakosa.
